Custom Cabinet Question

I just saw a new kitchen that my GC finished using a local cabinet maker he uses for custom cabinets. The doors/cabinet boxes/drawer fronts/shelves were all maple. The drawer bottoms were 1/2" plywood/finished. The finish was BM linen white. I noticed that the drawers did not have dovetail construction. I asked him why, and he told me that the cabinet maker uses biscuit construction on the drawers. Is this OK? All drawers have the "blum" closing.

Also, the finish looked very nice with the BM color. But, how does that finish last? THe GC said that the cabinet maker sprays the finish on the cabinets. It was a solid finish with a satin look to them. I guess they add something to the paint to get that "solid" look?

I certainly appreciate anyone's experience with this. Thanks!

Barb
