NuTone HVAC?

Anyone have any experience with this brand? This was offered to us as another option from the Trane brand. I have a NuTone whole house vac, but I didn't know they were in the HVAC business, too?

Looking at the duel fuel, one is a split system, the other a package system, 2 to 2 1/2 ton each.

TIA!

Just an another label for more marketing and market penetration from the Lennox, ADP. Armstrong & Ducane parent co of HVAC equipment manufacturers. I heard in some areas they have introduced Broan also.

Zl700, are you sure? I believe they are part of the Nordyne family, including Tappan, Frigidaire, etc...

I was wrong, I had heard that the Broan line could be rolled out by Nordyne also but never saw it happen yet?

    Good catch Ryan

So what is Nordyne up to 12 labels now?

    What a joke!

Why is it a joke? Is the quality poor or do you think companies shouldn't be so diverse with product lables? I read that the NuTone brand would be the Nordyne's 'premium' brand but I'm looking for some hands-on, real-world experience with these units before we pull the trigger.

Actually Maytag was to be their premium brand but has had a lot of difficulty getting to be accepted by the general public. If it was so well received, why are there less distributors today than last year?

So adding a new name label and one more potential HVAC line will help?

How would you feel if you made the investment to be a Maytag dealer and now someone down the street will be selling the same equipment, different name?

Nordynes marketing is shoot lots of bullets and hope some hit.

Please note, I'm not saying the Panasonic inverter compressor in the 23 SEER is a bad thing, in fact it works well in the Mitsubishi as one, for their variable refrigerant, mult evap system.

But 23 SEER? If you didn't know it is capable of 23 SEER, not necessarily operating there much.

I get what you're saying but as a consumer I don't give a hoot about what name gets slapped on the cabinet - I just care that my system will work efficiently and relatively trouble-free for the next 15 to 20 years. :-)

I think you got your answer.

"Anyone have any experience with this brand? This was offered to us as another option from the Trane brand. I have a NuTone whole house vac, but I didn't know they were in the HVAC business, too?"

    Just anouther Nordyne manufacturing label.

(They make (label), Maytag, Tappan, Fridgidaire, Westinghhouse, Kelvinator, Gibson, Broan, Philco, Intertherm, Miller, and apparently now Nutone also)

In my opinion a fair built unit

Thanks for the input. Had a NuTone iHybrid dueal fuel package unit installed on one side of the house today. The split system duel fuel going in tomorrow! Both controlled with Honeywell VisionPro programmable touchscreen therm.

Hopefully the VisionPRO "IAQ" version set up to control blower speed for dehumidification, but either way great thermostat. With dual fuel especially I'd recommend the "IAQ" VisionPRO thermostat, model YTH9421C1002. From what I understand the Nordyne family makes a fine product.

    ryanhughes,

We don't have a humidifier installed. Is there an advantage to the IAQ version in this case?

Thanks for the reaffirmation on going with a Nprdyne product!

I have a Tappan 95% gas furnace and heat pump sitting in the garage waiting for me to install it this weekend. As long as I do a good job, it will do as good as anything. And heat better than most Trane heat pumps.

I had a Westinghouse 15 Seer, variable air handler, electric backup, media filter, IAQ stat installed a month ago. I was torn between this and a Rheem but with advice from Loonie that either would be fine,I decided on the Westy due to the warrenty. Especially for the variable speed motor which I understand is quite expensive. The IAQ takes some getting used to since it holds such a tight temperature and seems to have a mind of its own! Good luck with yours!

The IAQ will help with dehumidification when used with a variable-speed blower if you have it set up to "dehumidify on demand" by slowing down blower. Just a nice thing to have, but of course you can have a nice system without this added feature with a standard VisionPRO thermostat, which is great itself (I have just a regular VisionPRO myself).
