when one sees a question like this, I always ask how long you intend to be in home and to compare the warranty on each furnace/brand.

I have to admit that Trane/AmStandard are known for building good furnaces but depending on models, furnaces are very similar from one brand to another. I believe Comfortmaker is owned by ICP which is owned by Carrier. Just to be clear, I am not saying Comfortmaker is the same as Carrier.

Post models for comparison.

Since the blue oval didn't have some 95% furnaces in place, they are taking ICP 95s and slapping their oval on them. So in some cases, you buy a Carrier but get the same furnaces as the ICP brands. From some of the grumbling around here, they are higher priced with less warranty, he he he.

Key is best possible installation and proper sizing, both of which aren't the easiest to find. Trane makes a great furnace but no one is perfect, Trane has had plenty of issues too. So if you are happy with the Comfortmaker supplier, go for it.

My house burnt and I had a comfortmaker furnace and ac it was 26 years old 5 months after fire and tons of water they fired up both units and they worked like new they said. So I again went with a comfortmaker this time high efficiency.. I never in that 26 years had one issue with either unit and every year I would clean the inside myself with a ship vac. Great furnace
