Usually I am the first to say match your appliances/hardware and light fixtures, but I think you can make this work. To be really anal, I'd just bring that coppery metal into the room elsewhere -- maybe a copper bowl on the counter or something... so it looks like a purposeful mix!

I agree with sueb20. I have a lot of mixed finishes - brass, stainless and ORB in my small kitchen - but they are repeated (sometimes subtly) somewhere else relative to the space.

My picture over the sideboard has hammered copper inside the matting and I could also pick something else up in that color. Good suggestions! Thanks for your help.

I'm laughing, because even though I will make literally, a dozen trips to many different paint stores to pick the "right" shade, not to mention, spending $$ on samples to paint on my wall, it would have NEVER occured to me to worry about my stainless frig, DW, or cooktop, in choosing a light. I want the light to go with the whole "feel" of the kitchen. And my cabinet handles are all oil rubbed bronze so a light would most likely be coppery or orb.

Love your breakfast area. Love the copper color.

Redbazel--I think that's why I was drawn to the copper color because I felt it would anchor my table more and I loved the light in that color. It then was an afterthought when I started thinking of all the different things going on with regards to wood and appliance finishes. Quite an eclectic mix but I like that and that's the style I am drawn to in magazines, etc. Thanks for responding.

I agree with Red, I also like different finishes in a room. I consider ss appliances to be neutral, you can have whatever finish you want on your light fixtures, faucets, cabinet hardware. I think the copper would look fabulous!

I want to thank all of you for the response to my post. It really helps to have others to bounce ideas off of since I have all males in my household! As you can see by my picture (thanks to deeinohio ) my current light is way too small, so I am excited about replacing it. Thanks again!
