I would be very dubious of their claims that it is a more efficient way to heat a room than other fuels. It's electric, and electric is more expensive than gas or oil. Plus, it's small electric, which is going to be even less efficient than electric heat pump or electric baseboard.

I was planning on getting it to supplement an already heated room (via regular forced-air gas furnace and duct-work). We spend the majority of our time in the living room, and using it to bump the temperature in the room a few extra degrees without having to bump the furnace thermostat would be cheaper. I would think that running the furnace to bring it up to, and maintain it at 72 degrees would cost much more than using that fan.

I checked their website and the heating element of the ceiling fan draws 1500 watts max, which is the same as any plug-in electric room heater.

Can you use a typical electric heater like an oil-filled radiator (no fan so its quiet) or a ceramic heater?

Take care.

I am wondering if the "draft" air current would be annoying. The old heat pumps were...this would be warmer air though. Since I too am considering this option, I'm hoping to hear from someone who has experienced it operating.
