CL Drum Table...Would You?

Of all of the furniture I get from DH's unclaimed stash from work, I've always lacked end tables. I've also not bought any just for the sake of buying. So today I came across this drum table for $75 (link below).

I called DH at work to ask him if he'd consider & he said he'd take a look at it when he gets home. Now, our money is super duper tight & I am especially frugal about furniture purchases but & I would def. use it & have a place in mind for it. I love drum tables & I like the lighter tone of wood of this one as well as what appears to be various wood inlays.

What do you all think of the table? Should I get it if I get the green light & it's still available?

I would get it -- maybe bargain it down to 50$.
It's a beautiful classic piece. Would be really pretty next to a wingback slipcover reading chair. :-)

I love those tables. Is it one with a leather top? Can't tell from the pic.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 as that leather looks stained, and it's a pain to replace yourself. Does it have all it's metal feet?

I like it, former roommate had one like it. I agree that $50 would be the top, tho, as tables like that aren't unusual, tho very nice. I would also want to be sure it had all the feet and all the brass fittings on the apron.

I also like drum tables, though I prefer a wood top over the leather. I find the drawers to be a handy spot to stash the remotes and coasters. I'm almost sure this one has a leather top, though. My only concern with the leather top is how to condition/restore it. I've had a lot of success using Restore-a-Finish to touch up my wood top tables and that would be my first choice. They come up from time to time on CL. For my two, I spent $150, but mine were in better condition than the one you linked so I'd agree with suggestion to spend about $50 on that one.

Not to hijack but I do have a leather topped drum table that has a whitish ring in the middle, it looks like from a planter that leaked? Anyone know how to remove it?

I love it-- though I am way too careless for a leather top in my house. I have a drum table I adore-- and I wish I had another. Other than my mother (who gave it to me), NO ONE else likes it. I am so glad to see so many other aficionados.

Go for it-- and I would pay $75 if I had a use and place for it (and probably even if I didnt)

DH took a look at the pic. He said that it doesn't have a leather top and that he just refinished one like it for a client very recently.

He agreed that if it had all of its hardware and brass feet that $50 would be what I can offer. I'm going to e-mail and see if it's still available.

I like drum tables myself and I hope it is still available!

I've seen quite a few on my CL lately and as a matter of fact have been considering purchasing one. I agree as well that based on the picture I would offer $50.

For comparison, here's a table that I found on my local CL. This table looks like it's in good shape.

Thank you for the comparison pic! That helps a lot!

Why is there a naked foot in the photo?

Good luck, Ttodd. I love my big table...I find round side tables to be so much easier to work with...you can tweak the angles easier to fit better. I have leather on the top of mine...no probs - coasters in the drawers for adults & I keep a pretty blue/white saucer out for DS's drinks. Actually, the other nite - the table must have been wet - paperback book got placed onto of the wet - next day go to pick up book - part of paper is stuck - I just got a little Goo Gone & you can't tell at all!

    Smiles:)

Well DH went to take a look at it last night. He said that the table itself was in decent condition and that more importantly it was all very tight. That was bad news for the leather top though...it definately needs replaced which is easy enough for DH to do except for the fact that it too was on super tight and would be ridiculous to try to get off to replace. The seller is a sweet little old lady who needs to move right away. She has our #.

Thank you all for your timely information = it was very helpful.
Ahhh well! Now that I know that it's a common table Iwill keep checking CL since I am in no hurry to have one ASAP.

Scoobyruby, I actually decided that a large drum table is what I want for my bedside table. I really like the look of a mismatched set in the same wood tones.
