Ironically, if you are looking for a "name" brand the price at Home Depot is almost the same as a lighting showroom. We used to own a lighting showroom and when I had to buy a fan for my daughter's room, I elected a Hampton Bay.

The saying in the industry was that if there was going to be a problem with a fan, it was usually going to happen during installation or within a week. This particular fan with a light kit ran about $50.00. I would check out the various sales that are going on this weekend. You may be able to pick up fans at an even better price.

As for lighting fixtures, they are about the same for the named brands as lighting showrooms. But again, they may be having a sale. Check out your local paper since everyone is usually doing something over Labor Day!

I love Hunter ceiling fans, and my favorite style is called Stratford II at home depot, and Eclipse at Lowes. They run $75 right now, I think HD is having a 20% off sale for all hunter fans. You can always find cheap wall fixtures at either store for $20 or even less, and they do just fine with a spiral CFL.

Interestingly, I was at Lowes on yesterday and purchased a few things. A chandelier, a swing arm lamp, and some lamp shades. All at about 75% off. It is the Waverly line.

Amazon.com is selling "globe" lighting for what seems to be a very good discount.
