Bathroom chandelier scale

I love my master bathroom, but regret not putting in a chandelier. I'm thinking of replacing of of the recessed lights with a chandelier and having a hard time deciding on the right size. Anyone care to show pics of their bathroom chandelier? How high did you hang it?

Here's the picture of the space:

The room if 17' and 8'and the chandelier will be centered in the space. The shower is across from the tub.

Here is one of the chandeliers I'm considering but I'm worried it will be too small:

I've linked a larger one, but maybe that one is too overwhelming for the space? I'd prefer the smaller one, but don't want to make a mistake.

I think the smaller one you posted is way too small. I like the larger one but I think it might be a bit too big if it really is 27". I guess I am not very good at understanding how it could be 27" in diameter but only 21" wide. Shouldn't that be the same? It's very pretty and the price is right!

It's not a fancy chandelier like the one you are looking into, and not sure this will help with scale since mine is over the tub, but here is my Master bath chandelier.

If you want to add a chandelier in addition to the existing lighting that would be fine. There is NO WAY that you should eliminate the existing lighting in favor of a chandelier. A bathroom isn't a dining room where interesting shadows add ambiance. Put the existing lighting and the new chandelier on dimmers and you can easily control the light levels to be able to have a dimly lit romantic soak and enough light to see to put on mascara.

Thanks hollysprings-and I agree, I like lots of light in the bathroom. Right now we have 3 recessed cans, plus sconces plus a can in the shower. I will be replacing one of the recessed cans with the chandelier.

Also forgot to mention, the ceilings are 10'.

here's our bathroom chandy... it's about 21" wide and ~ 24" tall... with 5 lights. it's a good size for our bath...i have it basically centered in the room. it's bottom is just over 7' from the floor-our ceiling peaks to about 11ft or so...

busybee, that's exactly the size I'm looking for. Do you have a zoomed out shot? How big is your room? Do you remember where you bought it?

I think this bathroom is a similar size and I like the scale of this chandelier. Anyone care to guess how big it is?

I'm looking for something with dark metal and crystal. I want the metal to be light and airy and not too heavy. I love this chandelier. Has anyone seen anything like it? I'm thinking of getting the larger overstock one-will it give me the look I'm going for?

I'm going to guess 21-24", leaning to the 24" side and about the same in width and height. I'm comparing it to the cabinet depth at the sink that is at about the same depth in the photo and thinking those cabinets look a bit shallow, so maybe 18" bumped to 21" and or 21" bumped out to about 23-24".

Based on your room size, the rule of thumb would be about 25" (17+8=25), but given that it is long and narrow, you might want to go a bit smaller. I think 21-24" is probably your best range if you want it similar to the one above. The larger one on Overstock had more detail than the inspiration one, but I think it will work, and you can always leave off a few crystals or a chain if you want to simplify it a bit.

our room is about 11x16 or so... the chandy is prob more like 20" wide- we def could have gone with a 24, but i wanted to keep the cost down and i think this one looks fine too! i would guess the one you picture is 24".

got it at a local lighting store- it's a savoy house chandy and store basically had same price as i could find on line (give or take a few $) - i also got 2 sconces that matched for wall by linen cab and toilet area and store was cheaper than i found on line for those. the finish is new mocha- a bronze silver mix... i have polished nickel fixtures and wanted to complement them, but def didn't want an all silver colored or orb chandy...
