impax Who can forget the fragrance of lilacs? Growing up in Northern Illinois along the Rock River, we had lilacs from the house on one side down to the edge of the river. It was like walking through a perfume factory. I will never forget it. It was one of joys of my childhood. My own family and I live in Southern California and altho some varieties grow here, they do not have the same fragrance!

missrivka i love it! i have walked around town "collecting" my mothers birthday lilacs every year since i was quite young, she would not have it any other way. it was always such a wonderful day hunting them down, i got to know where all the good ones where and over the years the rightful owners of said lilacs caught on to my ways and most looked forward to my little thievery each year. I was always gentle with their plants and never took more than one or two bunches from each plant. I miss that so much that i am living 3000 miles away, but some day soon i will be out with my garden clippers again!
