Browsing for Bargains....

Picked up on this in someone else's threads that Rangecraft has a "clearance" section for their hoods. Just visited their site and didn't find anything that would work for me, but it got me thinking that others might know of resources for kitchen bargains out there whether it be another high end range hood maker, or a custom prep sink, maybe floor samples on appliances...

I was at my local plumbing supply place today and there were amazing deals on this and that - faucets, sinks, etc. -- again nothing I could use but someone can possibly score a deal on these closeouts. Will post the link below.

I couldn't take my hands off the stone forest vessel Siena sink and shower bench - still pricy but WOW!

Here is a link that might be useful: Closeout stuff... mostly bath but who knows

The Rangecraft clearance reference was from me. :) It's how I got my hood.

Got my inspiration for this type of shape from you. Not that I'm a kitchen stalker or anything......

Thanks for the link. We're going to reno the kids bath next year (didn't do with the whole house reno this time around), and I'll need "stuff"!

Well, if you live in the San Diego area, Standards of Excellence in San Marcos has a big banner out front advertising 70% off of stuff. They sell Wolf, Thermador, Miele, Bosch, Viking, etc. If you're in the market for premium brands, it's probably worth a look.

During the holidays one of the Great Indoors stores was going out of business. On the last day we found 3 modern pendant lights that were marked down from $1000 to $150. Two were still boxed up and had never been open. They are nothing of what I imagined but WAY better. It makes me a bit nervous buying so early but some bargains are too much to pass up.

Once I saw some quartz on super sale and I started a thread. I think it was bad timing because no one really responded. This would be a great place to let others know about super sales around them.

I bought my entire kitchen in pieces early but I know that's out of the comfort zone for most people. I searched for about 2 years as we were "reno-ing" this house while living in my other home. Saved 6K on appliances. My 2 new Miele ovens only cost me $2700; but it was a risk since I didn't install them for over a year later. Same with the Miele cooktop. I bought it off a guy who disassembled EXPO when they went out of business. Saved over 2K on that. My faucet was off craigslist from a seller whose kitchen/bath store went out of business... a $450 faucet for $150. And so on. I ordered all my bath fittings and lighting from AJ Madison and Lighting Universe respectively at the same time. The bath fittings are for the master bath are still sitting in the guest bedroom. But, I was able to offer a bulk discount (substantial) and they accepted. Saved about $900 on each. Craigslist and ebay are my friend. I wait however long it takes to get exactly what I want and won't settle. I'll live without or with old junk till what I'm looking for comes out. Like I said, I know this is not for most people either due to the risk or time involved. My EBEL patio set sells new for almost 5K. I paid $800 for a set that was a few years old but had just been recoverd with Sunbrella fabric and looks brand new. It was EXACTLY what I had dreamed of getting, but never would have been able to afford new. I search every single day for items. If when the time comes, I havne't found just what I want, I buy retail at the best price I can find. If I pay full price, I'm at peace with that since I saved so much on everything else. If you can pick out all lighting/bath items from one place; make an offer. You'd be suprised at what they might accept.

If you are looking for a beverage refrigerator, or a wine cooler, or any kind of refrigeration (sorta) then you should check out the Perlick website.

Perlick is an incredible brand. We were able to find an undercounter fridge that in the store retailed for $2000+ (gulp) for $860. It has a little ding on the side but it's going to be built in, so no one will see it.

The level of customer service from Scott is above and beyond what you can imagine. The shipping for this 200# item is going to be $100 for me. Pretty good deal to get what I would consider the best under cab bev center out there. Complete stainless interior, sliding/adjustable shelves, wine racks at the top so the wine isn't too cold.

So, if you are in the market for any kind of refrigeration (even if you need commercial stuff for a bar) give them a call.

Tell them Karen sent you. He'll remember me.

Years a ago I bought from Standards of Excellence (range, microwave, dishwasher) and they were great to work with. I had an issue where they quoted me the wrong price for the range, it was $150 lower than it was supposed to be. They still honored the lower quoted price. Just a FWIW.

I just purchased stove, dishwasher, and microwave from Number1Direct.com. out of St. Louis. We bought GE and Bosch, but they carry the higher end brands as well. They were great to deal with, appliances arrived when they said(3 weeks) and were packed and crated very well. I was leary about buying major appliances online, but I saved $1000 and got free 10 year warranty. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

Ditto for Bid4Floors.com. Local Dal Tile store wanted $12.83 SF....I googled the pattern and found it for $5.94 and $250 shipping at South Cypress, then found Bid4floors and that is exactly what you do. I bid $5 and $100 shipping. They came back at $5.49 and $125 so I placed the order. a few days later got an email they couldn't ship for 3 weeks. With reno imminent, I panicked and called South Cypress back...they could ship in a few days. Called Bid back to cancel the order and the guy put me on hold to call distributor again and said they had enough in stock and it would ship at the end of the week. I was nervous and skeptical but said ok. Called South Cypress back and they couldn't have been more gracious. Called the following Tuesday and as promised it had shipped . The local Dal Tile store called a few days later to arrange delivery. Again, packed and crated well. I would use either company again.

Mamadadapaige - they have a great "yard sale" every Summer too!

I found my sink and faucet on Home Perfecthref> and was able to get a good price, free shipping and no tax.

If you're in Mass, another great bargain spot for chairs, benches, shelves, etc., is The Mill Storehref>. Also, New England Demolition and Salvagehref> is a salvage place in New Bedford, MA where you can find mantels, hardware, old sinks, etc.

I just saw an amazing bargain on Mikasa Italian Countryside dinnerware. Right now the 45-piece set (8 place settings and serving pieces) is $179.99. Wow! Unfortunately I want 4-piece place settings (with mugs instead of cups and saucers) so it won't work for me. I'll link it below.

Wow, was just doing some comparison shopping w ads from the newspaper & was shocked that Number1direct was literally hundreds less on the applicances I checked. Has anyone else used this company? Did you use their installation service, that adds about $200 to the deal.
It is easy to comparison shop if you have the model numbers. Does anyone know if Lowes matches online prices?
    Magoo

Msmagoo....we did not use installation with Number1Direct......contractor will install. Sears would match original microwave we picked out, but ended up upgrading to convection. Neither Sears nor HD would match stove or DW price. Also check out AJ Madison out of Brooklyn....we almost used them but found Number on Pricegrabber and prices were better. Glad I could help!

We had a good experience with AJ Madison.
Please also try your local Habitat for Humanity Restores. They have some items for pennies on the dollar and the money all goes to a good cause.
I also love ebay & CL for all house stuff.

For those in the Northeast, Delia's - New England's distributor for all Viking has an annual warehouse sale in April or May in Wallingford, CT. Last year we got a 36' Viking dual fuel range for $3,500, a $2000 Viking wine fridge for $300, a Viking microwave for $399, and a 36' hood for $399. If I see the ad this year, I'll post it. You've got to get there early as a line with 'focused' shoppers forms early.

Craigslist has already been mentioned, but I scored the deal of a lifetime (that cascaded into an entire kitchen remodel) there. Gorgeous, perfect condition stainless Thermador double ovens (top convection), 36" gas Thermador cooktop, and matching 36" Thermador hood. Just a few years old. For $700. For ALL OF IT. It came out of a really nice custom home with a gorgeous kitchen, but the woman was upgrading to Wolf appliances and just wanted them out.

Bought a gorgeous 36" stainless farmhouse sink for $420 with free shipping from Amazon. Commercial style faucet with free shipping from Overstock.

Cabinets from Cabinets to Go--we've been very happy with that choice, and our contractor friend was impressed with the product. About the same price as Ikea, but he said the Cabinets to Go were WAY easier to assemble, and they feature 100% plywood construction, full extension drawers, dovetail drawer construction, soft close. We're doing our kitchen in phases, but all of our cabinets in the end will cost $5176.

And, of course, you can't beat sweat equity for saving some money. We're doing as much as possible ourselves--cabinet install, appliance install, painting, drywall patching, tiling the backsplash, etc. We're only bringing in professionals where we don't have the right skill set or tools: plumber, electrician, stone fabricator. And I seriously considered doing the stone myself for a while. I feel very capable after building a brick wood-fired oven and outdoor kitchen in my backyard. Girl power! ;-)

Oh, and if you're in the Phoenix area, the Building Materials Outlet is magnificent. You never know what you'll find there, but they have amazing bargains and a huge inventory. It justifiably earns its nickname, 'The Handyman's Candy Store.' Sinks, windows, counters, faucets, bathtubs, vanities, prefab granite, granite slabs, quartz, doors, baseboards, etc.
