Buried Treasure!

We are redoing the 1968 remodel of our kitchen in our 1922 colonial revival house. The guys were pulling up the floor yesterday in the breakfast nook and discovered, under two layers of vinyl and some ancient linoleum backing (not the lino, just the backing), white oak floor boards that match the rest of the house. Best of all, the floor guy says that he can easily sand and finish them to look gorgeous, and my GC says that the cost of sanding and finishing will be taken care of by the reduction in cost of having marmoleum installed as per the original plan.

I'm stoked!
