In sizing and locating them, remember that you need to stand beside, not in front of, them to see the contents of the pullouts. Also wide ones function like deep (stuff losing) shelves if you can't stand on both sides of them to see what's there.

I would also consider having two stacked pantries if you plan on really loading them. That way you don't have to pull-out the full weight every time you open them.

Adjustable shelves would also be important to me, especially in a forever home where I was considering aging in place.

I would prefer the wood, especially if the chrome version has open wire shelves. Items behave better sitting on top of solid surfaces (wood), rather than on open wire shelves where small or slim items can slip through or things teeter more.

I think what you plan to store there would be important. My pullout is chrome and it works well for storing the cans and bottles we put in it -- no problem seeing the shorter ones or reading labels below the side. My rollouts are wood -- larger and we put bags and boxes in those, but cans would have to be lifted, stored on their side or marked on top to know what was what.

I have not installed mine yet, but we got Haefele pantry pullouts. They are beasts! They have thick, thick stampings, wide mounting flanges, and beefy bearings. Rather tank-like! I have no familiarity with the Rev-a-shelf units for comparison, but the Haefeles look like they will last!
