I bet shipping from Canada is cheaper! LOL - these mirrors are so easy to make. I have made three so far, each different and each as easy as the last to build. All you need is some heat sink, LED's and someone to sand blast a mirror for you.

I wouldn't say they are that easy to make, not everyone is as clever as you, LOL, and you need a few more components than that. I guess it all comes down to how much time you have on your hands to get it right and the quality of the finished product, Good on you if you can make such things. There are billions of people who cant. These are simple designs of what we do, and we only started making them because so many people wanted them. We specialise in the sand blast etching of the mirror with fine art designs that glow and actually have a calming or meditative effect, kind of like staring into the flames of a fire, or a moon rise over the ocean. In fact our Moon over the Ocean design sells itself. When people see this mirror in our night display they just want to get it home and experience the phenomenon in their home.

Clear Light - that is amazing the water scene. I have a glass artist here in Vancouver who can carve, etch or sand blast anything. I have never scene a water scene like yours but he has done countless other looks.

I say it's easy because the look is easy to achieve. Easy if you know how.

ClearLight have you tried using Glitter in behind your mirrors? I did this with my daughters electric mirror and it makes these tiny crystals and adds a level of sparkle or whimsy

I have been sandblasting glass for 20 years, using a process I invented. Every now and then I push it a bit further to see how fine I can get the detail. Unfortunately there is not much of a market for ultra fine detail. eg I have achieved sandblasted glass portraits at a resolution of 200 dots per inch. That, even to me seems impossible - we are talking, over a lineal millimetre 8 dots - which is 64 dots sandblasted inside a square millimetre - in a portrait 6 x 8 inches in size.

The mirrors are great for the fine detail because you can see the detail better when it lights up. So that is what I specialise in now. I cant get it as fine as the glass because of the thickness of the paint means a deep blast - it is not a surface blast like on glass.
Before I could sandblast a design on mirror I had to figure out out how to illustrate for the medium - it took 6 months of trial and error before I was happy with the results.

I love to look at sandblasted and carved glass features, as do a lot of people, It hard for people to even imagine how to go about it. I love showing my carved glass and engaging them in conversation. The mirrors on the other hand are something no one has ever seen before and people actually get emotional.
I still do glass when commissioned but if i dont spend over 100 hours a week creating mirrors I feel like I am missing out.
I charge $2000 for the Moon over the Ocean mirror at the moment (1200mm X 700mm X 40mm) but as with any art the price is destined to rise as the artist's work becomes more in demand. We have really only had the mirrors out there in public view for 6 months and we are starting to get pretty busy. There is a team here. they make light mirrors with plain light frames like we have all seen, but of exceptional quality. We also make them with ornate light frames - once again no one has seen anything like them.

I love your work and am a fan already. If you ever come out to Vancouver I would love to take you out for lunch and introduce you to Moe - my glass artist from Glasstopia here in North Vancouver. I'm sure you two would talk for hours.

$2,000.00 all bundled up sounds like a fare price for such high end work. I think more people need to see the work of you glass men to understand that they NEED it. I'm a waterproofing specialist and my niche market has lead me to these LED installs. A couple jobs with men like you and I learned a whole new art of back lighting and a new respect for the basic French Cleat.

I'll go add you to my watch list here on Houzz and Facebook.
