We really wanted draining runnels in the soapstone counter we are planning---but several fabricators we contacted [including Albarene Soapstone] said they no longer make them. When we asked why not, they either said they didn't have the correct tools or the runnels didn't really work/drain.
What special tools? Have folks had bad luck with runnels? Say it ain't so....
Our runnels work great! They drain perfectly. Just today I set a big stockpot on them to drain after I washed it, and I put it away a few minutes ago. The runnels had drained perfectly and were almost completely dry. I was on the fence about getting them, but Joshua had a sample counter that had them, and that sold me. He has a template thingie that he uses to cut runnels so they are in the right place and at the right angle to drain properly.
