I like stained floors & cabinets, too. But many today are opting for stained floors and white cabinets. Do you think you could be happy with white cabinets?

Well, I could, but the rest of my family prefers stained cabinets. How about a painted island? What color do you think would look good with the floor/cabinet stain combination of the Whiporwill kitchen above? Thanks so much!

I've seen green & black & gray. I don't like any. I'd stick to all stained and add color through art or other accessories (nice oriental runner rug, etc).

Also many feel the floor should be the slightly darker stain to ground the kitchen. So if you have a choice keep that in mind when you are making decisions.

Oh interesting. I never thought about that (a darker stain on the floor. That makes sense, but I will have the hardwood throughout several joining rooms, and I was going to go lighter so the house isn't too dark. (It's a 1970 two story home with only 8-9' ceilings. What about a say a chocolate island. Would that look funny? Just don't want it to look too monotonous.
