If you want a free program, there is Google Sketchup. It has a bit of a learning curve, but there are lots of tutorials, both on Google, and on Youtube.

Here's a second on SketchUp! There's no question about the learning curve, but once you get it, you can draw anything, and have a very detailed 3d model of your project. Also, there's a large number of pre-designed objects available on the Google 3D warehouse.

Ikea offers a free kitchen planner. It is easy to use but limited to their cabinet options.

Also, Plan 3D is inexpensive. It was $39 per year when I subscribed to it. It has tons of options but has a bit of a learning curve and I never got around to using it enough to get super-proficient with it.

I also used Plan 3D which is inexpensive, as stated above, and works great for visualizing/walking through a floorplan (complete with colors/furniture/lighting etc), but I had to buy a new computer just to use it :)
My old graphics card/processor just couldn't handle it and the program kept freezing up. But it was really helpful when I was in the planning/designing stage of our new build.
