Funcolors assistance please.

I have cataracts and awaiting surgery in June but the painter of my kitchen cabinets wants to do them next week. Here's my dilemma. I have a tiny kitchen and I want a pale beige for the cabinets as I use all muted colors in the house and don't like white. I thin pale almond will work but I can't see the color properly as everything I view is yellowy. This is a nightmare for a trained artist like me so I'm seeking your help. I want the beige I use to have a warm cast to it in the yellow tones. Thank you if you can help.

Sounds very familiar, my mom had the same thing. The surgery went very well for her and she said it was a piece of cake! After her surgery she commented that not only were colors less yellowed, they were also brighter, not as dark.

Pale Almond concerns me a little. Relatively speaking, it has a lot of chroma to it. It's on the verge of having too much yellow-orange in there to the point that it is a *color* more than a *beige* - if that makes any sense.

My fear is you could end up feeling like you have pale peach or flesh-toned cabinets. Not knowing what your light is like or how your acuity is going to be after surgery, I just don't know if pale almond is neutralized enough to be a safe guess.

I have used natural wicker 950 before on trim and it is lovely. Caution with that one is it might be too grayed for the color you're seeing in your head.

Sparkling Wine 949 is another one to consider. It would be somewhere between Natural Wicker and Pale Almond. Not as *orange* as Pale Almond and it is clearer and warmer than Natural Wicker.

So, Pale Almond maybe too colorful. Natural Wicker is a great trim color but may be too grayed for your taste, Sparkling Wine could be the safer guess given all the unknowns we have to work with.

    Hope that helps. :D

Oh thank you thank you!!! You said just what I needed to hear. I understand about the chroma. The last thing I want is flesh toned cabinets. I want a hint of color but warm. I'm going to get a sample of the sparkling wine, it sounds perfect but, for the backup, I'll get one of the natural wicker. You saved the day for me because I can't bear to miss out on the painter and have to wait longer. We have the insides all painted in a white. I'm sooo glad I came to this forum and found someone like you. Thanks a million.

    I understand about the chroma.

Knowing you are a trained artist, I knew you would. ;-)

Hope all goes well with the surgery - and the cabinets!

Yesterday and today we did the prep work, ugh. We finished the two coats of primer and now to the fun part. Not bad for two seniors, I'm 71 and DH is 76. The worst part was editing the cabinets, I have two boxes for Salvation Army with all the things we never use. Whoppeeee!!!

May I ask, are you talking about a certain system of color or brand of paint when you say "Pale Almond," for example? Best wishes for a great outcome with your surgery!

The pale almond is a Benjamin Moore color. I took funcolors advice and purchased the sparkling wine which is really a pale neutral white with a hint of warmth. It's a Pottery Barn color and I love it!!!! We chose Samsung solid surface in pebble gold as it looks like marble. Since it's a small kitchen I wanted everything light except the floor which is Bruce hardwood, butterscotch. Love it. Tomorrow the paint goes on, we're done priming and sanding. Woo hoooo!!
