laundry room help

I am finally getting rid of my 22 year old washer and dryer. Hooray!!! Of course, now my entire laundry room needs an update. New slate floors, bright Martha Stewart fern wall color, new window treatment, new cabinet hardware, etc., etc.

I'd like to do some wall words on the soffit(sp?). I have two ideas which I like equally. One is "It will all come out in the wash." The other is "Wash, dry, fold, repeat ...". Do any of you clever folks have any other ideas?

Also, I'd like to change out the ceiling light. Would a small chandelier be too much??

I like the first saying! So true! (well, mostly...) And I love that idea!
Congrats on your new washer/dryer. I scored a new washer 2 yrs ago, but my 27 year old dryer is still alive and kicking! I am not complaining, mind you, just commenting. (Don't want to tempt fate!)
How large is your laundry room? That would probably determine whether a chandelier would be too much.

If I were to put one thing on the walls in my laundry room it would be CHECK THE POCKETS!!! :-)

There are all kinds of cute ready made laundry room signs out there.

Have you also looked at the laundry room pics we have in the Gallery? Lots of good ideas there.

Here is a link that might be useful: Laundry Room Signs

Love them, especially the first one.
My mom used to have one that said "My laundry room always has the latest dirt!"

I have a sign in my laundry room that says, "Is there life after laundry?" :)

Paint a wall or section with blackboard paint, then you could change the sign whenever the mood strikes.

    Sister,

What a great idea. Blackboard paint is so easy to use and results are wonderful. It is also a fun place for friends/family to leave messages in all forms and thoughts. My daughter is always writing something funny on an old blackboard in the office. Usually found after she leaves and when least expected.

I love the idea of a chandelier in the laundry. I also contemplated something "fancy" for mine, but I was concerned about the functionality of the lighting. If you can use a chandelier and still see what you're doing, I'd say go for it. IMO, a laundry room should be a really fun room...whatever represents fun to you. (Mine is orange and blue...now that's FUN!)

Congrats on the new laundry room...I love anything that will make laundry more enjoyable!

I have a hand painted sign from ebay that says
    "When I said I Do...I didn't mean laundry"!

Check out the Laundry Room thread over in the gallery for some ideas.

A friend of mine has a quote attributed to Sister Mary Corita (remember her from the 70's?) in her laundry --
    "After ecstasy, the laundry"

I like both of your options and think it will definitely help the laundry experience!

My sign says: "Laundry is the only thing that should be sorted by color" with a caveat except jelly beans" because I only eat jelly beans by color. Life is good when you can buy bulk Jelly Bellys in bulk by flavor.

I painted my laundry room a tropical green, hung a 6-light pineapple chandelier in there and I absolutely love it. My room is small, but the ceilings are 9 feet so I had a little extra head room. Every time I walk in there now I smile. Don't be afraid to try a chandelier ~ it's different and unexpected, but that's what I love about it.

I actually forgot that I have a couple of signs because I make them! LOL I have one over the washer and dryer that says, "HELP WANTED"...it's never worked :(

And another that says, "Laundry Room" at the top. Then the next line is two arrows pointing at a button in the center and it says "Push Button" in the arrows. The third line is, "If no one answers, do it yourself." Again, nobody has listend! LOL

I have one that says "Laundry Room - drop your pants here"
