The color looks a like the temporary bench I bought for my mudroom from Home decorators. The color was called "Merlot" and it's definitely a reddish dark brown color. Not burgundy though. I wonder if it's the same stain as Macintosh Oak, but with a different wood species (mine has no grain)

I got several things in the dark oak, over 2 years ago. Maybe they changed the stain, mine is reddish but not orange. Kind of a burnt sienna color. I have read several recent complaints about "Dark Oak" pieces being orange. I wonder if they offer samples?

The stains in their craftsman line are not the same as those used in their other lines. Mfr. is different. I called once to see if a mission table I was ordering would match the color, and they said no. So unless someone here can show you their Macintosh Oak, I would suggest ordering a small piece, like an accessory, in that exact Craftsman line to check the color. They are good about returns. YouÂll have to pay for shipping but piece of mind is worth it for a large purchase.
