My understanding is that if a magnet doesn't stick to it, it won't work with induction. My all-clad ss passes the test, but my cuisinart and williams-sonoma pots and pans, which are also stainless steel, sadly don't. I think it has to do with what the sandwich material is.

My le crueset pots are fine, as are all of my treasured cast iron pieces that were my grandmother's.

When we get our induction unit, I plan to splurge on one more all-clad piece, then to round out my cooking set, I'll just take a magnet down to tj maxx and buy whatever sticks, no pun intended.

I have heard good things about demeyere from induction users over on the appliances forum.

I also plan to donate all my induction-incompatible cookware to a local agency that settles refugees in the US. They are severely underfunded and gladly accept used household items in good condition. Perhaps you would consider doing the same if there are similar agencies in your area. It makes me feel better about having to replace some of my cookware.

That's a great idea. I have an eighteen year old son who will be going off to college in the fall. If he doesn't want them I certainly will consider donating them. It would be a horrible waste just to toss them out.

Good 'ole cast iron is hard to beat. We had Le Creuset so going induction required no new cookware. My experience is that the thicker metal provides more uniform heat distribution especially at high powers.
