Comparable paint??

Hi. I closed on my first home and need help. I am having this house painted before we can move in, but the painter only uses Duron, BM or SW. I used to use colorcharts.org for paint comparisons but the website has been down for the last week.

Does anyone know the equivalents for the following Glidden paints? Or know how I can find them?

Glidden Sand White

Glidden Dapper Tan

Glidden Clear Blue Sky

Glidden Gentle Tide

I've been all over the web and cannot find a comparable site to Colorcharts that would give me a similar paint in other manufacturers. Does anyone know???

You kinda don't have to go to all that trouble. If you were prepared to accept Colorcharts suggestions for "similar paint color", then you're tolerance and expectations would likely, totally, allow for custom color matching.

Select the brand you want to use, give your painter the list of Glidden colors and chips to go with and let the paint store do their job. They have everything they need to create those colors in their products for you.

I would suggest you go to the paint store and approve each color match. Custom color matching is done all day every day and it works out just fine for pro painters and homeowners alike. It's just that approving the color matches before the paint leaves the store will ensure there are no unpleasant surprises. Plus, it helps everyone understand what to expect when the brushes and rollers loaded with color start swinging.

    Fun-C said it well!

I'll tweak a match until it's VERY CLOSE.
    (no such thing as exact...)
    * Scanners are a good tool, BUT 50% of the time, adjusting is necessary.
    * Give a store time to work up a gallon match (preferably a few hours, or next day scenario!!), & do any tweaking.
    * Approve the match, and have the remaining gallonage tinted.
    * Have the store save the match/paint-line data.

The problem with having it matched is 2 of the colors are discontinued by Glidden. They have it in the computer at Home Depot for mixing, but I have no paint chip of it. Only in the photos I have seen of it online. I dont have a fan deck or even a color card of it either since Glidden removed these colors the month before last. The 2 discontinued colors are:

    Glidden Sand White
    Glidden Gentle Tide

You can order the chips from this direct link:

    Order Glidden/ICI Dulux Color Chips

You can just enter the color name in the last column but here are all the color numbers just in case:

    Specify MP # Â Order # Â Color Name
    30YY 58/082 Â A1795 Â Sand White
    90GY 63/047 Â A1922 Â Gentle Tide

ICI/Dulux makes the Glidden brand. Everything that was Dulux is now under the AkzoNobel umbrella. It's tough to keep up, but the bottom line is that ICI/Dulux and Glidden share the same palette. That one palette is used for a wide range of grades and name brands of paint produced out of ICI/Dulux which is now AkzoNobel.

    Hope that helps some.
