prep for different wall types

OK, I know this is not the best idea, and I know it will end up looking goofy, but we're out of time (we have a little over one week). Some of the walls have thin white wood paneling. Some areas have new drywall (which hopefully DH managed to match up the depth with). Plans for the paneling are:

1. Wash thoroughly with TSP

2. Rinse, rinse, rinse

3. Sand

4. Prime

5. Paint

Nope, we are not filling in the ... grooves? in the paneling. This is a bedroom for a 9 yr old, I figure she's gonna want a redo in a couple years anyway, for now we just need to move in. For the drywall, do we just do extra primer coats or is there more prep work to do to make things come out as evenly as possible? Thankfully she's just super excited because she gets to pick out her colors LOL
