Help with Curtains

I am looking for a creative and economical way to cover my bedroom windows so please share any and all of your ideas! The attached photo shows how the previous owners decorated. I have 7 individual windows arranged in an octagon. For now, I purchased offwhite sheers and used tension rods to cover them until I decided on something permanent. We don't need to worry about privacy but the sun is really bright in the mornings.

Thanks all!

This is a picture of the kitchen windows ( which are the exact same as the bedroom) so you can see the details a bit clearer.

Oh be still my heart, that's fabulous! My first thought was all that light to grow plants! But that's not everyone's happiness. How do you hope to use the space? The kitchen windows undressed look so lovely to enjoy with the table. Would you consider closing the bay straight across with blackout drapes, leaving the curve as it is? I'm guessing from the ceiling fan, you are not keeping the previous owners victorian style? Do these window bump out from one wall or curve to connect two side walls? More clues please, what you would love as your ultimate dream come true.

My vote would be for woven wood blinds.

Thanks for the responses. We have actually added wooden blinds in to the kitchen windows to help with energy conservation and the look is still clean and uncluttered but a bit more "dressed". This of course is all a work in progress. As for the bedroom, the previous owners had a very eclectic style but much more ornate than we enjoy. We had wallpaper in every room. Ideally, I would love to add ceiling to floor curtains and make the window area a little alcove but our ceilings are 11 feet high and the cost is out of the question right now. We have taken down the wallpaper and added two chairs near the windows to make this a relaxing sitting/reading/tv area. I will take a pic when I can to show the changes. I know I want a "softer" look in that room ( softer than wooden shades) but I am stumped as to how to place the rods - what type ( there were regular metal curved rods up and they looked off with the sheers) - how high to hang them - valence?
Those are the ideas I am searching for.

    Thanks again.

Here is a picture of the room now - please excuse the mess.

The angle makes it look deceptively small. The area near the chairs is a nice size.

    Thanks for looking.

Romans would be gorgeous with those lovely windows and also add the softness you are looking for.

Call me silly, but I LOVE the white sheers! I know you don't like the bright morning light, but what if you installed inside-mount accordian blinds under the sheers? You can get these in white, with energy-efficient foil inside, which will block the morning light and keep the heat in during the night.

And they become almost invisible in the daytime when you pull them up.

If it twere me, I would add two more sheer panels to each window to give it some opulence.

Imagine in the summer, when you open the windows, and the breeze is gently blowing your sheers...

    Lovely.

I would find a pattern I loved at the Pate Meadows valance patterns site. They have full curtain patterns now too. Have you perused their Gallery? There are quite a number of photos of windows similar to yours, and so many really beautiful treatments.
