master bedroom decor help needed

Hello all, I have mostly lurked for some time. We moved in our new house in Oct. I have posted some pics of master bedroom. The pics on the bed, I would like to add to long wall between dresser and back wall of windows. I also purchased several tablerunners (on the bed) to possibly make into easy window treatments. I forgot that I had the pictures. Now, I am not sure if I can use both. Any suggestions are welcome. Also, any suggestions for the rest of the room. Thank you for your help.

I love the framed pictures and think they look beautiful with your matelasse spread. I hope you're not offended, but I've never been crazy about placemats, napkins, runners, etc. used as window treatments.

no, I am not offended. I bought a runner for my dr table. My sister suggested buying some more and making treatments for my br. I bought them at Tuesday morning but now I can't take them back. I am starting to regret that purchase. I am thinking something like my3dogs treatments might be better. I just hate that I spent $50 on the runners.

    Lovely room, paint and furniture.

Since you have a solid bedspread and the runner looks so nice with it, did you consider placing it over your dresser?
Added benefit of protecting its surface. It's a traditional application, albeit not one that's often seen.

I used a runner over a library table in our old house.

I think Parma's idea is great. I, too, love cherry furniture, but think taking some of your color over to the dresser would look wonderful.

Oh, and BTW, I have a closet full of regretful purchases. I look at it as the cost of being a little too invested in decorating.:) Maybe you could use placements?

I would evenly space the four pictures over your headboard, and use the runners to dress up your dresser top. Lovely colors in your room, BTW!

    Let's see:

Option 1: Hang all four pretty pictures over the bed. Either in a row OR in a grid pattern.

Option 2: Hang two pictures in a vertical row on EACH side of the bed.

I would use Parma's idea to place some of the purchases on the dresser(s)

If possible add a couple of lamps on the dresser AND a short round one on the top of the tall chest of drawers.

Perhaps you frame a few family photos -- mat them in the same fresh green and hang them on each side of the dresser's mirror?

LOVE the spark of orange on top of the tall dresser (Very nice with the four pictures!) -- perhaps look for a larger ceramic or glass bowl in orange for the top of the shorter dresser too?

    Just some thoughts!

Place one of the runners across the END of the bed -- that will "tie" everything together, especially if you put one of the runners on the dresser.

Bet it would look nice to hang two pictures vertically on either side of the bed...pretty room!

I think the pictures are nice. However, I think once they're on the wall, the frames are going to be washed out. You may want to consider swapping them out for a darker wood frame. Just an idea.

Very pretty room. You've done a nice job in finding accessories for your new BR. I have to agree with charlie about the frames tho. Darker, or pretty much anything other than gold frames would help with the pics not getting lost.

May I ask what paint color you used? I used SW Blonde in my home (looks similar to your paint color, but yours is a bit more yellow). I have used a few gold frames in my LR. However, the frames are larger - heavily gilded portrait frame, an oil by DH's GF many years ago, and a piece DH and I purchased while traveling before the Blonde. Gold frames are tricky with that family of paint colors.

While I think using the runners in a different way is a great idea, you didn't post pics of the window(s) that you need to decorate. I have seen the longer thin windows done with a runner and it looked like a custom WT. I am not a placemat or napkin made into curtain lover either, but I guess I'd like to at least see what your original thoughts were.

The runners are pretty and do coordinate with the other colors in your room. How many runners do you have? While I agree they would look pretty on the dressers, from experience, I personally think they are going to be dust collectors. Like the idea of draping one across the bottom of the bed if they are long enough.

Also, you haven't picked lamps. Would there be enough of that middle of the runner fabric to do a custom lamp shade? Are you planning bedside table lamps or wall lamps?

    Just a few thoughts.

I think I see green in the hall(?) outside the bedroom. Does this green match with the bedspread? Do you have any more of it? If so, you could paint rectangles that are a bit larger than the picture frames and then hang the pictures in the green rectangles. That way the pictures would not fade into the gold walls.

thanks for the comments. The bedroom is Sherwin Williams Bees Wax. The green that you see is the master bath. I am not sure I am brave enough to paint the green rectangles. For one thing, right now I only have one bedside table. I would like to have 2. I have an antique wash stand with marble top that I was going to put on other side but there is not enough room. I may have to buy 2 smaller bedside tables. Then I would put a lamp on each one. If I did that, it probably would not look good to have 2 lamps on the dresser, would it?

I will post more pictures of the sitting area on the side of the bedroom with all of the windows. It is kind of a bay with 2 center windows joined and 1 on each side at an angle. I need some kind of chairs for over there but I am not sure what would look good with rest of bedroom. I probably need something neutral and add pillows or throw.

****The really great news -- I won $500 at the basketball game tonight! Woo hoo!

I hope I haven't offended anyone by not posting an update. I am in my busy season, so I haven't had time to do much. I have worked with the runners and I don't think they work as window treatments.
I am looking for something else that is orange. The glass I had came from inlaws flea market stash.
I am also looking for 2 lamps and 2 nightstands. I will post update when I have pics to show.

Aside from selecting the bedding colors, choosing pieces in soft, sensual textures is a sure way to romance. Sheets in natural fibers, such as cotton or bamboo, will be the most comfortable for sleeping. The higher the thread count, the softer the sheets, so investing in a sheet with a thread count of at least 400 threads per inch will offer the best feel next to the skin.
