It does look kind of like a tape worm, and cats can throw them up. Don't forget to bring your specimen with you when you take your cat to the vet's office. Good luck!

Yep it was a tape worm. Vet confirmed. Vet gave kitty Drontal and needs to give it again in 21 days and then in another 21 days the last dose. Then I had to take the other two animals in to be treated too.

Big problem - the older cat wont take a pill so I crushed the pill up in her food. Now she wont eat her food. How am I going to get this medicine into this cat? They all need to be on the same schedule w/meds.

Any suggestions? And hurry!! The vet closes at 7 and I may need to go buy another pill ($35) for her and put it down her throat if she wont eat this food.

Ended up taking older kitty back to vet and they gave her the pill with some injector type instrument that shoots the pill down her throat.

In the past what I have done to get a pill down my cats is to open a can of either sardines or tuna fish and drain out the liquid. I use a pill crusher and put the powder in the liquid. It might take 2 cans of liquid to mask the flavor of the pill, but my cats end up slurping it right up.

We had them before - you can spot the signs on their anus or on their favorite bed spot. The signs will look just like sesame seeds.

any time one is having a problem getting a "pill" down your cat or dog get a measuring syringe dispenser, put the pill in it, add a little water, shake it up and squirt it down the animals throat. This works especially well for animals that just won't swallow a pill or let you in far enough to push it down.

lisa ! ahahaha! I thought I saw a little mouth - it looks like an alien. I didn't "doctor" it up though. This is just as it was except I first wiped it up and threw it in the garbage and then I thought, "ummm wait a minute, what *was* that thing?"

So I took it out of the garbage to get a picture and take it to the vets.

rest assured (or rest uneasy), dogs CAN get tapeworms and these can also be passed to humans. if your dog has passed a tapeworm, you need to get him to the vet ASAP for treatment!
