Sunflower decor...

Does anyone know of any good places to buy sunflower decor? I'm mainly decorating my kitchen in them, but the kitchen is open to the LR so some may flow in there too. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them. Thanks!

Not appropriate for a kitchen, but definitely right for a living room.

    Can't go wrong with Bradbury...

Here is a link that might be useful: My favorite sunflower decor

I don't know, but I painted this over my kitchen sink...

Have you tried looking on eBay?

Oceanna~ I LOVE that! I wish I could paint that well. I had thought about getting some of those Wallies & decorating here & there w/ those, but not sure yet. Do you have your whole kitchen decorated in sunflowers or just that? I would love to see pics! Yes, I have looked on Ebay, I just thought maybe someone else had found a really great place to buy sunflower decor or something. (I could spend hundreds of $$$ if I bought everything of off Ebay that I wanted... LOL)

Vivian~ Why aren't sunflowers "appropriate" for a kitchen? I think they look very pretty in a kitchen. Also, thanks for the link, but I like the real sunflower look rather than the ones shown on that site.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I learned to paint that from Donna Dewberry and you can too. That exact pattern is in a book of hers. You can scan the pic in, blow it up, transfer it to the wall, and follow her instructions for painting it. I practiced on old cardboard boxes I was going to trash anyway. You can find everything you need at Michaels and it's so much more fun to learn to do it yourself, and to do other projects. Go for it!

Sunflowers are totally appropriate for a kitchen, bright and cheery.

That's the only sunflower decor I have in there. Like you, I did browse eBay but didn't find what I wanted when I was looking for a rug in front of the sink. I ended up going with a braided rug that complemented my colors. The walls are an apple green, and my cabs are a very, very pale yellow -- Behr Opal Creme. Having the colors coordinate really brings the room alive. Oh, and my floor is Novalis faux oak plank from Lowe's and I love it.

Do you have a garden window? If yes, you can paint pots with sunflowers on them. You can also decoupage. A sprinkling pail would be very cute decorated up. You might also look on eBay for an old tin canister set, spray paint it and either paint or decoupage sunnies on it. Put that together with a cute sunnies rug and voila!

I think Vivian was saying that her suggestion of Bradbury wallpaper is not appropriate for a kitchen -- not that sunflowers in general are not appropriate. I don't know Vivian, but that's how I read it.

Looks like you're right, to me, Sue. B&B is heavy duty stuff, generally for Victorian LR/DR areas. Scrumptious, and with a price tag to match. Vivian has great taste. :)

... I do have a sunflower plastic bag holder, made of two sunflower kitchen towels. I did have a sunflower rug picked up in a local box store, but the colors didn't hold up to laundering.

I just looked on eBay again. There are burner covers, towels, spoon rests, pictures to hang on the wall, table cloths, placemats, canisters, banners, trivets, teapots, toaster covers, clocks, ceramic spoons and forks, hooks, soap dispensers, paper towel holders, valances, spice rack, dinnerware, cups, aprons, tissue box holders, plastic bag holders, cookie jar, trays, pitchers, glasses, window corner clings, bread box, flatware, wreath, bowls, rugs, Tiffany lamp, trash can, wallies, wallpaper borders, switch plate covers, mixer cover, coasters, mirrors, candle holders -- you name it, it's there.

I do hope that when you get your kitchen done you'll show us some pics. I'll bet it will look great!

Oceanna~ Thanks so much for all of the tips. I have looked on Ebay & found many things too. We haven't moved into our new house yet so I'm apprehensive to buy a lot just incase I don't have the room/wall space, etc. I will definitely post pics after the house is decorated & we're moved in... It is very stressful renovating, but so much fun also! I can't wait to get to it again, the weather here has put quite a damper on my plans! Anyway, thanks again & remember my username so you can watch for pics.

    Shannon :)
