Help! I am new to posting on this forum but have been a longtime reader, the advice on here has been so helpful. We have a problem, we are near the end of having a renovation done to our home. We have a fibreglass front entrance door which I have stained, and had a fir door frame (with side windows) made which we wanted to stain the same, all other trim creamy white. Our painter came yesterday to begin prepping trim etc and oil primed our french doors. Did not occur to me that he would do the same to our fir door surround, I know our contractor knew I was still to finish staining that part of our door. I should not have assumed the painter was told! Well, the mistake has been made, he oil primed the door frame inside and out. He said the wood was bare so he primed it. We have to move forward and see what we can do to fix this mistake. Is it at all possible to remove oil primer from bare wood and if so what would be the best way? If it comes to it we will just have to paint it but that isn't the look we were hoping for. Boy we could have saved $ buying a ready primed door casing if we wanted it painted. Is there any hope for fixing this? Any suggestions? I appreciate any advice you may have in advance, thank you!
