Are you looking to keep your drapes? Can you post some pictures?

Right now my dining room is a wreck because I just painted a cream color under the chair rail. I don't think I can get any coherent pictures. I hoped that a little painting might satisfy me. But that didn't happen.

I'd like to keep the drapes. I do have matching windows in the adjoining living room with the same set of drapes without the red. I can switch them out. My drapes are very similar to the ones in the link.

I was going to suggest green also. There are so many pretty ones out there and you can keep your curtains.

Classic Black (yes -- there are gorgeous black dining rooms here at this forum!)

Deep rich Chocolate brown

Olive green

Bright green

Dark green

Dark blue

Bright French or Mediterrean Blue

If you're looking for some color recommendations, we used "Gaucho Green" from Lowe's American Traditions. (Or, as Mr. Embees called it, "Oscar Grouch-o"). Our dining room is also fairly traditional, with a lot of different wood tones (house is a 1904 Victorian). It looks great against all kinds of wood tones because it's a fairly warm green. The drapes I have are gold and gred, and the colors look great together.

Sorry about the picture quality - it was during the remodel, and I don't have a better/newer one online yet. It's the darker of the two greens. Color is pretty true on my monitor, though it does vary depending on daylight vs. artifical light slightly. (Slightly brighter/yellow toned with the northern daylight, more rich/brown influenced by night.)
