basement redo

Hey there everyone! I have been busy trying to IMPROVE our old outdated finished basement. I have almost everything decided on EXCEPT the paint. Sound familiar? Usually the hardest part! The basement will have a pool table and a flat screen tv. I have no furniture yet..another decision I am currently working on. So, here are the cast of characters so far in granite, carpet and cork floor. Based on these choices, what do you see as the finishing touch in paint color. I'm thinking of maybe picking up the vein of rust in the granite? BM Audubon Russet comes to mind. It can be more than one color and it does not have to be too neutral. I am open to all suggestions. This is usually the most difficult part for me...the paint! Ugh! So fire away and let me see your colorful side!

Nice choices!!!! I might pick up a gold for the paint. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Love all of your choices. While the paint color is pretty, and would certainly work, I think it makes everything kind of blend together. Lots of rust in the cabinet color, the cork floor, and in the granite.

I would think it might be fun to do something a little more interesting, being this is a casual family space. Perhaps a deep grey blue?

A pretty warm green would work well, too.

This is why I consult here first! Les, you are right about the rust colors already present! I hadn't thought of that. While I like green, I have green in the kitchen, EK Edgewood Green, and DR. You all see things I do not. I have the BM and SW fan decks, so keep the suggestions coming!

What great choices so far. I cannot wait to see the finished product...you must be so excited! I was thinking the same thing though...while the rust color is gorgeous, it may be too much.

Do you have any inklings what furniture you may be leaning towards? I like the idea of using a gray blue, but nothing too dark. I personally like basements to be bright, so that the cave feeling can't creep in. But that's just me. You could also go with a neutral tan color that would blend, depending upon what look you are going for. And then do an accent wall perhaps.

Funny you mentioned an accent wall. Usually, I am not a big fan of them, but in this space, it might be fun! So, yes, an accent is definately in the running. Trying to get a feeling for colors. As for furniture, I am leaning towards a crate and barrel contemporary feeling, sort of. I like the Lounge Sofa in walnut. It comes in a sectinal or a sofa and big chair also available. This is it:

Here is BM Hot Apple Spice. A bit darker than Audubon Russet. Still too much? Something bout these fall colors I am drawn to lately. With BM Shaker Beige, maybe?

kmcg - what kind of granite is that? It looks a lot like the one I have in my kitchen. My basement is EK mustard seed, my cabinets for the wet bar are the same as my kitchen but the bar is green laminate - I think it is Willow. The carpet you are choosing looks similar to the one we have.
Do you have a lot of windows in the basement? Maybe and EK paint would be better if there isn't a lot of light.

Looking good. Hey did you ever finish your bedroom?

Hi Hoyamom! The granite is Santa Cecelia Gold. The darker version. I know there is a light too. The basement does have one small window. Not a lot of light. MBR is painted, but not done yet. I have too many things on the burner at once!
