Chi odd nighttime habits

I have a one and a half year old chi. He isn't completely housebroken, but he is good about 95% of the time--until now.

He used to love to go to bed at night, would be the first one under the covers. We went potty before bed and he slept all night with no problems. In the last few weeks, he has been repeatedly jumping out of bed, scratching doors, sometimes barking, and he will keep doing this over and over again. The only thing that seems to stop it is giving water. The problem with that is he pees on the wood floor after I fall back asleep. He has done this 4 out of 7 nights the last 2 weeks.

I know he can hold it because he holds it for almost 9 hours when I'm gone at work. I almost never have mistakes when I get home from work. What is going on? He has never been a big water drinker at all, one bowl a day is about his limit. We go on 45 minute walks every day in the evening, he is brought outside to pee before bed every night. He just got back from the vet a few weeks ago with a clean bill of health, and I don't notice any other strange behavior. He does not ask for water much during the day.
