What is best collar/harness for Dachshund?

I don't like the ones around the throat. She has a sensitive (maybe damaged) throat from previous owners using a choke chain on her. She is a rescue. I have been using the harness but leave it off most of the time because they are not long enough and chaff her under her front legs. Especially when we go for long walks. If I get a bigger one for length, it is too wide and big and slips around. Do they make harnesses or collars just for long Dachshunds. Never seen them at the pet stores here.
