Three things come to mind - either he wants attention, are you carrying a ball or something your pup might want to carry in his mouth instead of you carrying it. It is possible he is just messing with you, my dog loves to tease, he hides in the bushes when we are walking and I am not paying enough attention to him...Second - you might have some sort of medical problem the dog can detect. Does this only happen when you are walking?? I know someone whose dog detected her breast cancer....I dont mean to scare you, but if the dog is persistant, go get checked out, especially if it happens when you are not only walking, but doing other things as well

Hello. He does this if I am carrying some thing or not. He has always done this almost like he just wants to walk as close as he can all the time. I do not mind it but wonder why he does it. He does not do this to my friend who owns him. I also have autism but I knew this dog since he was a little puppy. Thanx.

My dog does this to "herd" us into the direction she wants us to go. For example, when I get her supper she does that all the way to her dish, just in case I decide to veer off and do something else instead ROFL.

Other times she wants to follow and take a less dominant position, but is so excited to be going somewhere that she literally "overruns" me as I walk. She is telling me to hurry the heck up LOL!

Maybe that is what he is doing to you, herding you to direct you where he wants you to go. Or maybe he is just very very happy to see you and excited to walk around with you.
