Quest nuts are special thread for their product

What are "Quest" products?

Primarily, I believe, plumbing supplies for the mobile home plumbing.

I used them 25-30 yrs ago in the house. Great product, all compression fittings with steel rings to grab the pipe and large compression rings and nuts on the fitting. A little pricey but a lot cheaper than a plumber. You can run a length of pipe, cut the pipe you want to tap, insert the fitting and tighten and you are done. No soldering and you can combine plastic and copper and galvanized.

Just do a search for Polybutylene failures and class action suits and you will find out what quest is. Beside some HDÂs you rarely see it sold except via camper stores and manufactured housing outlets for repairs.

They closed one suit in 2005, the other day I read a trade journal with a full ad in it that a law firm is collecting new clients for anouther suit.

doesnt show compression nut style, but it failed too

Polybutylene (Quest was one brand name) is the devil! There are contractors in my area who made their nesteggs doing replacement of those systems. I am not aware of it being approved for use in any of the current codes.

This is why I plan to stick with copper ;)
