Favorite design blogs?

I'm not sure if it's okay to ask about this, so if it isn't... well then just don't answer :)

I am looking for more design blogs to read... my favorite right now is Colour Me Happy and I'm looking for similar blogs that have real information, not just pretty pictures. What are your favorites?

I've lately become obsessed with them! I usually start with Younghouselove and Centsational girl, and then I click through the links on the latter site. Made by a girl is good as is Isabel and Max rooms. Be careful bc you could completely lose yourself in the blogs! They are so addictive!

I don't have enough time to follow them religiously but I enjoy looking at them when I can.

    Younghouselove
    Isabel & Max Rooms
    Mallardville Manor
    Yellow Cape Cod
    Mabel's House
    Popcorn Served Daily
    The Inspired Nest
    August Fields
    DIY Showoff

Just to name a few. Maybe that's the reason I don't have time to look at them all because I have to many bookmarked. LOL

Here's another one that's good: Remodelista.

Oh my, I can feel myself wasting a lot of time looking at these, LOL. My design style is probably transitional, and I love COLOR. I am having a really hard time in my new home because I don't get alot of natural light, and the overhead light fixtures in many of the rooms don't have good wattage. I would love to use some deeper colors, but I feel like everytime I try to go that direction, I end up with something light on the walls because everything else looks blech.

I love Limestone's blog! Mrs. Limestone's pretty kitchen helped me embrace the fact that due to space (and the fact that our micro is heavily used) I was stuck with an OTR micro in the kitchen remodel. OTR micros are really poo pooed on the kitchen site. I really love her taste!

What's wrong with an OTR micro?? I am in heaven now that we have moved and I have one in the new house. The one in my old house took up way too much of the painfully small counter space.

Thrifty Decor Chic is my favorite. I love her style & great ideas!

Sasha, I have a new OTR micro too, and I love it! My old one used to sit on the counter and took up valuable space.

Now if I had one of those huge cooking areas then I can see not having one there because it would take away from the beauty of the space, but I don't care if they're pooh poohed or not because it's the most practical place to use it, IMO.

Jt, would you post a link to her kitchen? I can't find it on the blog. Thanks!

Yikes! I don't want anyone over at the kitchen site to think I'm ungrateful for all I learned over there because there are really many great knowledgeable people. However, there is a biased against OTR micro's overall (but not all). So, as even a budget kitchen is such a big expense, I did sort of worry about the OTRM and how it was all going to look compared to many of the magazine worthy kitchens. However, I didn't worry so much that I decided to over spend to change it. I actually like the micro over the range because I can multi task all in one area and I finally have counter space. Although the set-up may not be good for the elderly or very short people, statistically there are more kitchen burns from appliances counter height and down. I do love how my DIY kitchen came out and although my kitchen looks nothing like Mrs. Limestone's I knew OTR micro's do not have to spoil the look because hers is so pretty.

Oakleyok, here's the link to Brooklyn Limestone's blog/kitchen pictures. I love her taste!

Thanks, jt! We remodeled our kitchen a couple of years ago and it's pretty big now. I had thought about installing the micro below the counter in it's own little nook. I wasn't too keen on having it above the stove but since it matches the stove and I have kind of a "vintage" kitchen, it looks good there, IMO!

And yes, it's great for multi-tasking at dinner time!

Just a note about the OTR micro: the issue is not snobbery, it's that the max fan you can have on an otr micro is about 300 cfm, which just isn't enough at some times if you cook at high heat. At first, I thought I could deal with 300 cfm, but with our new range, we just need more, so we got a 650 cfm fan and have a kind of wet bar near the kitchen (don't ask me, ask the PO LOL) into which we put the micro. I am *very* happy that we have dedicated the space over the stove to a high-cfm fan. We use it more than we use the micro, actually.
