curtain wars? Help!

What do you think about these "clashing curtains"? Or is it not that big of a deal? The curtains on the left cover a slider and the panel(which I just purchased) on the right is basically just for some color, however, I never thought about the two different curtains being so close together. I could replace the slider curtains.....what do you all suggest?

TIA

One of the two has to go. Seems like the plaid is a much better fit for your decor, at least in the limited view that we have. The damask is too shiny and too formal, imo.

If it doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother you. I have things in my home that might make others crazy. I could not deal with those two sets of drapes in the same room.

    red,
Oh, it bothers me alright....so much so that I will take down the gold damask and either leave those big windows "naked" or find a solid cotton that has one of those colors in the plaid.
    les917,
thanks for the "lesson" in decor! You are right; the plaid is a better fit and I think what I said above will work. I think I can actually use the gold in my bedroom.
    Thanks so much!

I love the plaid...where did you find those? I just bought leather furniture almost the same color as yours and I wanted vintage floral until I noticed the rest of my rooms had it, but that plaid would go nicely with my room and furniture. Where?

Believe it or not I bought those plaid panels at Target about 10 years ago! I noticed they carried them for a few years after I bought mine but haven't seen them now for quite awhile. They have lasted very well and wash up nicely. Maybe Penneys or some of those "country home" catalogs may have something similar?

With the windows so close to one another I'd want the curtains to match. I agree the plaid is a much better fit, but I'd be concerned even if you get something similar it will look like a mismatch. If you cannot (or do not wish) to invest in all new curtains, then perhaps coordinate with a solid would be better--like a green that is in your plaid panel--since the chair is red, I would not do red.

Keep the plaid and I agree with les 917 .. the damask can be changed out. Use a thick black wrought iron curtain rod (or darker rustic color) instead of the skinny one up there.

What about going with a shade or blind in the damask window? I'm a sucker for that plaid and it looks just right with your wood paneling and leather chair. That damask in your room makes me think of my DD playing in her dress-up princess clothes with her jeans sticking out from the bottom.

Are there 3 panels of the plaid? If so, put one of the panels on the windows replacing the gold damask - Leave the 2 other panels on the slider on each side. If you need additional coverage on the slider, hang a coordinating solid under the plaid panels. Pretty plaid - I would make it work.

In addition to having the same or at least coordinating drapes on adjacent walls, I would also make sure they were hung at the same height. As it stands now, the panel on the right appears to be mounted a couple inches lower than the plaid ones.
