Pentair Intellitouch freeze protection problems

Was just hoping someone could help with a question.... We have a Pentair intellitouch and are in the Houston area.... I have the freeze protection on for both the pool and the spa presently.... The only thing that confuses me is that when the pump kicks on with the lower temp... the spa runs fine and then when my remote states the pool is on (it's supposed to switch between the pool and spa every 15 minutes)I can hear the intelliflow pump drop in speed (we have it set for a lower speed for the pool) but the pool never comes on... the spa just runs at a lower speed....We have checked and the automatic valve is not switching over to the pool side. Is this what it's supposed to do or is there something wrong with it? I kept thinking we were just happening to miss it when the pool kicked on and happened to only see the spa running but I'm sure now that the valves are not switching over. Could someone let me know if this is ok or not? and if not how to fix it?....Supposed to be in the 20's tonight and below freezing for the next couple of days and I'm concerned about pool damage. Oh and by the way.... if we turn the freeze protection for the spa OFF and just leave the freeze protection for the pool ON.... the valve rotates and the pool turns on fine.

Thanks so much for your help!

If the valve actuators will switch between the 2 sides (pool/spa) with the spa freeze off, leave it off.
I'm curious, is your spa completely disconnectd from the pool or is it connected and spills from a spillway back into the pool?

Thanks for responding Kelly..... The actuators are not switching between the 2 sides no matter how I configure the freeze protection. Sry, when I said the valves will rotate with the spa freeze off, I just meant that the valves were working and not stuck or broken.
The pool will come on while the pool freeze protection is on and the spa freeze is off but then the spa does not come on. When I have the spa freeze on also it never switches to the pool. We just turned the spa freeze off anyway and figured it would be better to have the pool running if we had to choose between the two.

My spa is connected to the pool... it's got an invisible edge?....whatever that's called where the flagstone is right at water level and when it's on the water flows slighty over.

We did call our PB yesterday and they were going to have the Pentair guy call my Husband but the guy never called... when we called the PB again to let them know.. they said they had called again and he would call last evening... Unfortunately no call.

We just want to know how it's supposed to work and if it is or is not working properly...seems this would be the best time to check it since it's so cold.
We did get a thin sheet of ice on the spa last night but when we turned the spa freeze back on, the spa seems to be running ok and does not appear damaged as far as I can tell. We let it run for 15 minutes or so then turned it off to allow the pool to come back on.

I appreciate any information your able to give me, i just kinda learn about everything as I go as best as I can.
Just wanted to let ev1 know that I've learned alot reading this forum and although have only posted once, have gotten a ton of information and knowledge from reading others questions over the last year and it is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Erica
