Dog Attack Update

The owner of the two dogs that attacked our family was found in Texas. He was running another dog fighting ring. The trial was last week here and the jury came back with guilty on all 10 counts. Why the guy didn't just ask for a bench trial is beyond me. The jury was horrified by the pictures of the pups, DH and I. The guy got a 5 year sentence. Nothing will bring the girls back, but at least this guy won't be hurting anyone else for a while.

It has been a really tough year for us. I want to thank everyone again for all the prayers and support for us. I truly hope no one else ever has to go through this.

Thank you so much for the update. Good that the owner of those dogs has been put away for the time being.

I know nothing makes it better, but I'm relieved to hear there was a penalty for this heartbreaking episode. Best in the New Year for you and your doxies :)

Hopefully the law will keep checking in on this guy after he gets out, and hopefully his ego will continue to keep him in trouble in jail and extend his sentence.

Do you know if TX intends to prosecute him for dog fighting? If so, hopefully he'll be shipped off to a prison there after he's completed his sentence in your case.

I do hope that you and your husband are doing well now. How are your two new girls? I'm sure they've helped restore some of the joy in your lives.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your pups were very cute. I wish the animals who ran dog fights got much more time in jail. Be glad the guy didn't want a bench trial. Its much easier to sway laymen with emotion than a judge.

Saw the pics of your two babies on another post. What cuties! My heart felt condolences go out to you. Some people are just idiots. (And that's being kind without saying something prohibited.)

I babysit a mini doxi. She rules her master, and is the queen of her castle. I wouldn't want to think of something like that happening to her. Best wishes for the New Year.

I'm glad they tracked that &%$#!! down! I wish his penalty was a bit more severe, but at least he'll have to give up his liberty for five years. I hope he detests every minute of it. This won't undo the attack, but at least it's some closure for you and your dh. Best wishes to you and your family.

Animal related issues in crime rarely are.

be thankful he's getting five years and not just community service.

Glad he got something more than a slap on the wrist. And I hope karma really catches up with him at some point.

So do I..... I see lots of cases where pets end up harmed in group homes for example.
