SwimEx exercise pool: any experience?

Previously I posted a message asking for recommendations for exercise swim pools/spas and someone suggested SwimEx as being the best (and expensive). I have been browsing their web site. Anybody have any experience with this pool or other brands that they would comment on? This will be for new construction in the hot SW desert, in an indoor space (yet to be built)--I don't have enough room for, nor do I want, a "real" pool: just want an exercise pool and would prefer one with a separately heated spa (which the SwimEx doesn't have). I was originally thinking Endless Pools, but after researching other companies, I think EP doesn't fit the bill.

Thanks for any information, I'm a complete newbie at this.

I'm replying to the past poster 11 months ago. Yes, a Swimex pool can be installed above ground, but you would need to build a skirting around it as well as stairs to access it all within your jurisdiction's code for having a self-locking gate to the stairs or a self-locking fence around the pool. Many other brands come with siding as part of the package, but Swimex pools are so frequently installed in ground that this is not a standard feature. I think having the pool above ground is actually a better idea in the rare event something in the paddlewheel or return current pathway would ever need to be serviced.

Swim spa makers have been coming and going for a long time. They have the same issues as regular portable spas. Pumps, seals, jets springing leaks, heater elements, swtiches and electronics, expensive to repair... A swim spa is a real pool with similar care requirements.

A small fiberglass pool with Badu jets in an enclosure might be worth looking at. They come in two or three jet configurations. The three jet units would press my teenage daughter to her limits (competitive swimmer) while a two jet system would work well for me (nearing 50 year old man).

There are other current generators out there but I know the Speck system well enough to say I like it and would buy it if I was in the market for it.

Swimex has been around for a long time. They make a pretty good unit for a fiberglass vessel.

I have installed many Badu jets, as well, and I can say the quality of the current is night and day. The Swimex puts it to shame.

I am not a competitive swimmer and I can out swim the 4 jet 3 pump system I just installed. I cannot outswim a swimex.

Often times people will but a shell from another manufacturer an install it next to the Swimex systems.

@Rack Etear I don't know if you are still active on this board, but have you installed SwimEx swim spas before? We are considering installing one in our small rear yard. Do owners install them above ground at all (I've only seen photos of them installed partial and in-ground-- is this because they are pretty ugly if placed above ground)?
