My Ship Has Just Come In!!

I'm heading to Jersey tomorrow to see the importer! The container of Super White that I have been tracking since it left Italy a couple of weeks ago docked a day or so ago and the slabs are in the warehouse now.

The gal there tagged 3 for me since they are flying out the door as soon as they come in. I will be able to choose others when I get there tomorrow.

Just thought I'd share!!!!!

    Here's the ship coming in.

Here's bee arriving to check out the slabs.

Here she is checking out the dimensions.

Here's what bee says to the slabs:

    Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you, go on

    Far across the distance
    And spaces between us
You have come to show you, go on

Why do you not live down the street from me marcolo?

marcolo--it really WILL be in 3D for ME!!!!! (the moving is being re-released in 3D for anyone missing what I'm talking about)

    You always crack me up.

I did tell the importer I was going to wait by the dock for the ship....so you are not that far off....

A woman who knows what she wants! Tracking the ship! Only at GW!
We are all having such fun following your progress.

Goody!! There is a container on its way from Italy and I'm crossing my fingers that it contains my slabs :-)

Show us pictures!! And have fun!

are you seriously going to be like, RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM ME???
    why don't you come visit?

Bee while you're there...keep in mind New York stone in jersey city. I purchased my super white from them. They were great to work with and we bought directly from them.
    Good luck:)

Marcolo....I will be ROTFL for the next week!! Thanks!! Good luck Bee....I never imagined you could actually order slabs from Italy...live and learn...

    marcolo!!!!!

That's way down there. If further north I would have given some other places to look into if that didn't pan out. Fingers crossed for ya!

Bee, very excited for you and keeping my fingers crossed that you will find your dream superwhite! BTW, the supplier of my superwhite is also located in Marlboro, NJ... might you be visiting PMI?

    Marcolo... that is just awesome!

Hope it is exactly what you want!!! Enjoy picking out your slab!

Great Fun! Can't wait to see the pictures...

hope to see pics soon! your granite yard sounds like they have great customer service too!

    Hope they''re beauties, Bee!

I often wonder what latter day anthropologists will make of the upper middle class matriarchical stone pilgrimages of the early 21st century, or what memories our kids have of The Day Mom Found Her Slab. : )

Wow! That is definitely dedication to the cause. Good Luck!

As the old saying goes... when MY ship comes in, I'll probably be at the airport:-(

Thanks for all the good wishes!!!

    Well, I went, I saw, I conquered.

Left this morning before dawn. Stopped at my daughter's work which was near PMI, yes dragonfly, that's the place. Picked her up and off we went.

How's this for "hot granite"? I got there and the gal I've been working with over the phone who placed 3 on hold for me at 3 pm yesterday when they unloaded them told me, They SOLD your 3. She said she didn't know why but they were gone. There were a few more left. One bunch was much too gray. The guy got the crane out and we looked a couple of slabs behind my "sold"ones. I found these 3. The last one has bit of "egginess" to it, which I'm not terribly fond of. But, I'm sure we can work around it.

The thng I love is that in the gray areas, it is very crystal-ly. You can see inside of it.

So here they are for your enjoyment. (Of courese Photobucket is having its issues right now, so, back to flickr for the time being)

Kateskourous--I didn't see this until too late, I thought you were around the corner, or so. Next time, for sure.

    WOW!!! Veni, Vidi, Vici indeed!!!
    They are lovely!!! Congratulations!!

They are beautiful. The tricks and trades of a stone yard, oh well. Are you going to get these, or wait? Are these like the ones that sold?

I'm taking these. I did just send the sales person an email thanking her for all her help again. I did tell her that if the ones she had on hold for me should become available, I think they were "softer" and I might prefer them, so she should grab them for me!

I think these will look nice though.

To follow up my post from 4 minutes ago,

The sales person just emailed me back.

The original slabs already left the building. She said the other sales person didn't see them tagged. She wasn't happy about it.

Oh well, do you think these will be fine? I think so.

Yay, Bee, your slabs are lovely!

Marcolo, you're a hoot! (And Bee, you're just as I've pictured you. Very polished and stylish.)

    Gorgeous!

Gorg!!!!! Love them. Totally worth the trek.

Fabulous! I can just imagine the crystals in the gray. It's going to be so nice to see your kitchen come together finally. It's going to be special.

Well, this answers the question I posed to you in another
thread.....I now know how you are going to top your other
    kitchen :)
Beautiful slabs. Glad you got there when you did!

They look great, Bee! So glad you found some beautiful slabs. Sorry that your original ones sold, that must have been disappointing when you found that out, but the ones you got are gorgeous!

    Bee, they look beautiful.

Kay161, by the time that I can afford new counters (& the rest of a new kitchen), I'll be laid out on a slab.

Bee - I'm sure the other 3 were pretty...but these ladies are BEAUTIFUL!!!! So happy for you and can't wait to see your new kitchen!

Bee...they are beautiful! The slab I had my eye on was gone when I finally made the decision, so I was disappointed and chose from the 5 slabs left. Worked out well anyway because I needed two slabs and got mirror images. They were more uneven in pattern than the original and I fretted for two months until they were installed. I needn't have worried....they look entirely different when the are cut and on your counters and in my case BS. I'm really happy and love looking at them every time I go into the kitchen.

Bee- that are beautiful!!! Congrats : )

    eh. it's okay....

THUG! (as she falls off her chair and hits the floor...)

    *are you coming back???

Oh they are so very pretty. You made a great decision!

Bee... Gorgeous!! The coloring makes it so much more dramatic!! I have smaller bits of dark grey crystal-ling so I can imagine how beautiful these must be in person. I say, take them! You may not see super whites like these again... (They seem to be much more "egg"-ier lately). Once installed and laid flat, I'm sure they are going to be amazing. Congrats on a successful trip!

Wow, great looking rocks! I can't wait to see them in your kitchen!
    Renee

They look great! Check one more thing off the list....

So beautiful. I'm sensing a theme with these granite places after reading the posts about granite woes this week. Lack of attention to details and instructions! Sheesh!

Oh dear, I'm glad that all's well that ends well and these are some gorgeous slabs, but good thing you got there before they sold these too! BTW you are handling that part really well, proud of you : )

    Marcolo, LOL!

    Bee, they are beau~t~fullll!!!!

So lovely! Can't wait to see your new kitchen shaping up.

Marcolo --> That was too funny:)

The slabs are fabulous! Congrats! Can't wait to see them in your new kitchen!!!

Indeed good thing you got there fast...what a shame they sold the first three you had on hold, that mistake should cost some accommodation to you....IMHO.

Gorgeous! Worth all the effort, for sure. Congratulations.
