I've seen only two pools with a grey finish and I'd say they or on the light to medium side, Florida Stucco's "French Silver" in their gem finish and at 6-1/2' one can see the bottom and a descent deeper blue color is received. I can post pictures of those 2 pools if you'd like.

I have Fla Stucco French Silver and highly recommend it!
I`ve noticed though that in does lighten a little after
a few month.Very little motling.(maybe good job applying)
Although we are very happy with it,I wish it stayed the
way it was right after it was done.Gorgeous Emerile green.
Can see bottom and mossaic clear.

We have dark grey plaster (no added finish, just plaster) and LOVE it, I would repeat it again if building now. We homeschool and have many young children at our home (mine are now 10 and 13) and seeing them has never ever been an issue at all.

We wanted a very natural looking pool, we used all native rocks so the darker/less sky blue appealed to us.

I'm including some photos I took this morning, the color is deceptive and changes throughout the day, sometimes it's a really deep rich blue, other times it's more grey. The depth of the cleaner in the one photo is a bit more than 9 feet, you can see it and the drain clearly. I took one of a penny that ended up in the pool too, it's at about 3 feet.

I actually don't think these photos are all that good, so I will try to do some more later in the day, the water color is typically more like the deep blue you see in the deep photos with the cleaner.

Thanks all for the input. Went to see two pools today,
one dark, the other medium. There didn't appear to be
much difference.

Nanhsot, thanks for you info and pictures. Good to know
that visibility is not a problem at 9 feet.

Hoping to pass final inspection next Monday and plaster

I achieve my Grey with black sand/marble dust.
This is much better than using a black dye to achieve the Grey color.

Tony, your Granite is probable a Sunstone Select exposed aggregate finish by CLI Industries.
