My New Bedding

Here's a pic of my new bedding. I LOVE it & can't believe how well & how quickly it all came together. IRL the small green accent pillow & the green turned down duvet are closer in color. Final fluffing isn't done & when the rm. is done being decorated I will post final pics.

Final decorating ideas are such:

1. Right now we just threw up a few black & whites on the wall where there were existing nails. I have 2 black & white botanical studies to print out, frame & hang vertically above my bedside table & 2 architectural studies to hang vertically above DH's bedside tables.

2. My sister & I are going to make curtains like these:

3. I need to hang my black iron curtain rods.

There is an all glass chandelier hanging in the room w/ a white ceiling medaion around it & I want to paint the ceiling the palest version of the walls to make the chandi & medallion stand out even more.

Love the black and white with the green, that is different but really gorgeous. The kitties add a nice touch :-) Show us some pics after you do the curtains, they're really pretty too.

I love it too! It looks so fresh and inviting. Obviously, the cats quickly discovered it's comfy! ;-)

I love the iron bed and the bedding with the wall color. I really love your room. Your kitty cats are so cute and love it also. Thanks for sharing. I like the new curtains you have planned to hang up.

I love it. The green with the black-and-white is a nice touch. Love the kitty, too. :)

The dearheart knows s/he's the perfect complement to the wall color :)

Really beautiful room; I appreciate how the black and white photos speak to the black and white linens, with that splendid green singing harmony. What is the wall color, btw?

    Thanks!
Flyleft - the wall color is Garden of Paradise by Valspar. Ideally I would have gone w/ a slightly more yellow green to go a bit more w/ the duvet but I've had that duvet for yrs. & threw it on the bed as an afterthought.

This is my alcove that some of you may remember:

The color is Brisk Olive & is 1 shade lighter than Garden of Paradise. I am considering painting wide stripes on the wall in the same color but in a gloss or maybe the next shade lighter from Brisk Olive. DH is painting the bureau glossy black for me.

PS: the kitties must be feeling particularly relaxed & harmonious in the rm. because I just came home from church & found them sleeping w/in paws reach of eachother. For 9yrs they have always had hateful issues w/ eachother & could barely be in the same rm. together let alone on the same bed or so close to eachother!

I was on the fence about painting my bedroom green but you have convinced me. I've also been eyeing up a black and white comforter. What a beautiful room. I am inspired!

    Thank you.

Well, you know what they say about green: it's the only (?) color that you can mix shades of without fear of clashing...the various shades give a richness to the room, I think. And that includes the shades outside the window :)

Valspar has some good colors in their collection, I find...surprisingly good. This is definitely one of them :) And silly me, I just noticed the green and purple in the stained glass window in the alcove!

Oh well, back to painting primer on window trim...DH and DD are gone to DD's first major track meet and I'm too infirm to do the trip :( so I'll show them--I'll paint instead :)

Hmm, I tried posting before but it didn't show up. Oh, well.

I absolutely love your alcove. The picture, paint, leaded glass...

I'm sure the bureau will look great in black. I think it's lovely in white, too. It brightens the area and lets the light bounce off of it.

Ohhhhhh ... that alcove is just heavenly!

Beautiful!!! I looooove black and white and green together---fresh and I never tire of it! Really beautiful choices. And how fun that you get to sew with your *sister*! :)

ttodd, Who is the manufacturer of your iron bed. I really love it so much. Do you know the height of the headboard?

Oh isn't that fun and scrumptious! I love your alcove too. Your vase of hydrangeas just make it! Yummm!!! Love the big fat tassel on your nightstand and the stand too. You should post more pictures more often. :)

Cindyloowoo, originally I had planned on a monotone green rm. that I saw in a magazine. It was beautiful & I had bought & hung green toile' curtains from JC Penney but it started to feel a bit overwhelming & oppressive. I started to feel very heavy if that makes sense so I decided to attempt to lighten it up 2 or 3 wks ago as I was NOT painting again! I still wanted the rm. to feel warm and cozy & that's when I decided on black & white. I exchanged all of my curtains for the bedding last wknd.

Sewing w/ my sister - I'm not sure that she will let me live.:O)! Usually we end up vacationing together at her place & we barter me painting a rm. & her doing my sewing!

Lynn, I got the bed from Bombay Co. yrs. ago when I started working there. It was my 1st purchase. The headboard height is about 5' high.

Thank you all for the compliments - I'm feeling so accomplished!

Oceanna, I'd post more pics but quite frankly finally stopped because I was always too indecisive & never completed anything. I got too many ideas & then posted here too many times & decided that people were tired of hearing from me. I was embarassed. Although I must say that w/ #3 on the way I've been getting whole rms. to a completed point just so I can be done & happy by the time kiddo #3 comes in Sept. That & DH just told me that he called a realtor because we're tired of talking about selling & want to put it into action w/in the next yr.

    Very pretty...enjoy! :)

Country curtains website had curtains in a small houndstooth check just like yours, that were displayed with black and white toile. you are spot on !

Where did you get the bedding? Love it!

    Cindyloowoo,
The Black & white quilt & shams are from JC Penney & are called Marielle. They are on sale & still available. It reverses to ticking. The white quilt & beaded green pillow are from Home Goods. The Euro Sham is from TJ Maxx. The green duvet is by the Hotel Collection from the Palazzo line in Bamboo. I got it off E-Bay. The Bedskirt is from Bombay Co. when they closed.

I LOVE your bedroom. If I didn't already have so many rooms to work on, I'd redo my MB in these colors (and still might).

ttodd, Thank you for letting me know where you got the bed. 5 feet is my favorite height for a headboard since it is just about my height and feels perfect to me looking like an adult bed. I really love your iron bed but I know the company is now out of business but they sure had pretty furniture.

I can't speak for anyone else here but I'm sure not tired of your pictures! I love seeing them.

As far as completing projects, most folks who are great at doing lots of projects fast are hiring someone else to complete them. The rest of us are slow as time and finances permit.

Happy #3 to you!! One can be a full time job. Three is like three full time jobs. lol

Love how the room has come out! The green is luscious! As others have said, the black, white and green color scheme is always fresh, and so many different greens can work depending on how you want the room to feel.

I think the new drapes you are planning are very pretty, and I am a fan of mixing patterns. The more I look at the room, tho, the more I wonder if textured white panels with black banding (perhaps in a small black and white allover print) would work better. I think the iron bed would show up more against the white, and it would enhance that fresh but dramatic look to have the textured white (perhaps a waffle weave or a matelasse) with the black print banding.

I love the alcove, have loved it since the first time you posted. Only change I would even think about making would be a bit bigger lamp, to balance the tall hyrdrangea arrangement. Maybe still a crystal base, with a white shade banded in black.

Congrats on #3! Do you know the gender?
