In addition, what about using a painting technique to add some depth to the walls? A faux marble wall (beige if you want safe, charcoal would look amazing, too, though), for example, could really turn your pretty bathroom into an oasis.

To keep the room looking more restful, consider painting the vanity base cabinets in a white creamy color to blend with the trim color at the window. Softening the room with a sheer roman shade in a pretty pattern would add a lot to the feeling of the space. Hang a watercolor framed piece of art over the tub, add candles and soft fluffy rugs to keep the room from feeling too "hard edged." I would either go super pale aqua green on the wall (like "Titanium" by Benj. Moore) or keep with the ivory/off white scheme and go monochromatic.

I would do a warm, soothing, relaxing, and romantic. Like either olive or jade green. Something that will make you feel like you're relaxing in a hidden creek in an enchanted forest ; )

A lot of the boredom factor in this bath comes from the fact that you have not accessorized it yet, plus a couple of tweaks I would make:
1.We don't know where you're supposed to hang your towels and that's a big problem. You can add some towel bars or robe hooks (the kind that actually work) to hold towels. The towels can add color and interest and can be any color you wish, because we have not yet settled on your wall color. So let's say that they are dark seaglass!

2. Next I would remove the big mirror and hang 2 individual mirrors. They can be nicely framed or they could be pivot mirrors, which look really cool.

3. On that lovely big wall above your tub, you need a piece of art. It could be traditional or abstract, whatever stirs your soul.

4. I would put plantation shutters on the window. That way you can tilt the louvers to allow light into the room without allowing any Peeking Toms.

5. I like Gabbert's idea above of painting the walls a darker color. So her charcoal would work or a nice muddy teal or limey green.

6. If possible, and if in budget, I would change the above mirror lighting to 3 skinny sconces, one between the two mirrors and another on the outer side of each of the mirrors. Best of luck!

Even though I mentioned earlier painting your walls charcoal, I now think that charcoal is too dark for your entire bathroom. A light gray would be good for most of it with the charcoal only on the vanity wall.

The neutral color is very nice but another suggestion would be to create a wide stripe keeping the existing color and adding a stripe a little darker, add accessories and you're done!! Look at the stripe effect in this bedroom. I was thinking vertical stripes and not this wide ... But hopefully you get the idea.

I have a newer home with the cultured marble bath and counters. I have neutral walls and flooring. It makes for a great blank slate but it is hard to figure out how to decorate it. I've been in my house a couple years now. We have miss matched towels, no art, no direction. I'm ready to spice it up or make it the spa retreat I've always wanted.
