A Deep End of 8 feet And a Sunshelf at the Shallow end?

Or am I dreaming LOL about packing it all in there LOL?

We have an 18 x 34 kidney, and ours is only 6 ft at the deep end. Even with that, we only have about 10 ft of shallow 3ft, a gradual deop off, and a small deep end. I think it would really be pushing it going to 8 ft that quickly. I'm sure some of the PB's on here will let you know.

our pool is 14x28 and we go from 3ft to 5 ft. I am no expert, but I think you'd have a major dropoff to go to 8 ft. in our pool. But......I could be wrong.

No, not large enough. Our pool is 14x25, only a foot shorter than what you're talking about, and we have a baja shelf (sunshelf) at one end, a nearly 4 foot shallow end that is very small, and a fairly steep dropoff to 7 feet. We milked it as far as we absolutely could. And even then the builder tried to talk us into 6 feet instead but we really insisted on the 7 feet (because there would be no way to stop dh and ds from diving).

I think you have one of three choices. A) make the pool longer B) eliminate the baja shelf or C) cut it down to 7 or even 6 feet deep.

Take a piece of graph paper (-some drug stores stock it, our CVS does, so do any office supply stores) and use each square as a 1' x 1' measurement. Draw the "water line" of your pool as a straight line 28 blocks long, then start your shallow end 3 blocks under one end of your "water line" and make that however long you want the shallow end, and go from there to figure the angle down to the deep end. We're having a pool put in in the next week or two (vinyl inground 16 X 32, 3' - 5' 8") I wanted to make SURE the depth was exactly like I wanted it-my favorite part of the pool is deep enough to stand in while keeping my head a little above the water). I plotted it out on graph paper and got the shallow end, slope, and amount of deep end exactly how I wanted it. It REALLY helped to see it on graph paper.

    THANKS so much ..

I def am going to get the graph paper ..

snookums .. I think I will have to cut it down to 6 (or 7) ft then.
I am hoping to have the deep end deep enough for a slide.
I know slide water does not have to be as deep as diving board water.
I could have the pool be longer but I want a nice amount of decking area around the pool so I am not willing to give that up .. Soooo I will make the deep end not as deep!

I think I read somewhere here that slide water only needs to be 5 feet deep. :)

What about an L shape pool; would that work?

-also, make sure your PB understands if you're talking about water depth or pool depth...couple inches can make a lot of difference.

Our pool is 14 X 28 and has a play area that is 12 X 8. The depth is 3 X 4 X 5 which is too shallow for diving, but is great for playing volleyball or basketball..here is a few pics.

Proctorfarm, I don't know if you are still reading these posts but I just read your suggestion about the graph paper. I tried it and it was incredibly helpful to visualize it that way. Thank you for the brilliant idea!

I have an old kidney, 14X32 with a 9' deep end. Since I'm in the midst of remodel, I went out and measured. The descent starts about 11 ft out from the shallow end. At the 11 ft point it is about 5 - 5'5 deep. Once you hit that mark though it's like a slide. Here's a pic after sandblasting to give you an idea.
