I, myself, am struggling with this free motion quilting. I love the look when it is washed. It has that real quilted look to me. I have found that I must quilt all the areas (could be minimal) or else when washed it puckers and the appearance is not to my liking. If it were my quilt, I would add the extra quilting and wash it beforehand.
