What goes with Peanut Butter?

We're in the process of reno-ing a bedroom that will be my office. I don't have a photo at this time, but I need help with my color choices.

The walls have plain wainscotting and a highly textured surface above that. The ceiling is red pine I'm going to have painted, and we're installing a light oak laminate on the floors. The room gets great light, but is tiny...just under 100 SF. It's got white plantation shutters I want to keep, but won't be adding any other WT. The room currently is Comet cleanser green on top and white wainscotting. Oh, the door is painted black, thanks to my stepson who used to occupy the room.

I have Behr Peanut Butter to use on the walls, and I was going to use Behr Prelude also, and keep the chair rail and window moldings white. The ceiling would also be white. But now I'm realizing, I do not want to do the Prelude (a grey-blue), since most of my accessories are greens, reds & blacks. And my LR is already in the tan/white/blue scheme, I want something different, I think.

So, what would go good with the Peanut Butter? And where would you use it? On the entire wall? Top half or bottom half? Also, what about the door? Which color to paint it...wall, upper or lower or trim?

I was leaning toward the PB on top, and a brick-y red on the bottom, with the white trim. My desk is actually an old farm house table with white legs and oak top.

Then I thought PB top & bottom with red trim. Then PB bottom, red top, black trim. Then I started thinking, Prelude on the ceiling, for a sky like effect.

I'm sooo confused!! Oh, yes, I have all this paint from previous paint jobs. More than enough of the PB & Prelude to do any of the combos. I'd need to buy a red, IF I went with that. So PLEASE help me make up my mind. What do you all think? I'm totally open to any suggestion...including any other colors that would go with the PB. I am DEFINITELY using the PB, because I love it. Thanks all!

Seriously though, with your colors a chocolate might be nice below the chair rail, PB above. With wainscotting, I generally prefer a different color.

Also consider going two colors down from your PB on your paint chip card for your wainscotting.

I usually do doors the trim color to be safe, but my mother has her doors painted the wall color (in your case PB) and they look nice too.

I would keep your colors simple and do white trim to match your shutters. I know how it feels to be tempted by leftover paint, but in your case I think the red would be too much, especially since this is going to be an office.

Heehee...Jelly. Yes, I actually thought of a raspberry jelly color!

I never considered chocolate. Sheesh...I was so obsessed with that stupid Prelude color. We actually used the PB in my DD apartment, and had an accent wall in a gorgeous mocha color and everyone loved it. I think a color in that family will be perfect!

I forgot to mention that the closet door will be a white bifoldm so going with the white door would probably be better than in PB.

Thank you so much for the idea! Now, one more question...floor molding...white or get the 1/4 round that matches the laminate floor? Also, the ceiling has molding, should it also be white (celing) or PB (wall)?

First thing that came to mind for me also.....jelly!

I like the contrast of white moulding next to color so I would vote for that. However, as far as the quarter round I am thinking match the floor?

Chocolate, of course! "....who got chocolate in my peanut butter?....." Anyone remember those old Reese's peanut butter cups commercials?

I think molding should all be the same color, so if you have white baseboards, then the crown molding should also be white. The quarter-round is also part of the molding, not the floor, so it should be same color as the baseboard it is attached too. Of course, I'm sure others have done differently and it looked just great, but I like the "norm".....

I am with Tracey, go with the white.

LOL, I was actually thinking about dipping peanut butter on a spoon into a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips when I was a kid. OH, I miss being a kid! Now I have to eat right and exercise for my figure.

I bet the mocha was beautiful! What color flooring do you have? If you pick a color in that direction, don't forget that you can't make this decision based only on your PB. You need to make sure it doesn't clash with your floor as well.

This thread isn't good for me. *Now I am wondering if Star Bucks has a chocolate-mocha-peanut butter concoction. I guess I should just cut out the middleman and go exercise.
