connecting threads???

Has anyone ordered from connecting threads before? I was looking to see how many yards come on a spool, but couldn't find it.

Also, I think I asked this question before but couldn't remember...did you like the thread? I have been using the large machine quilting spools of coats and clark that comes in 1200 yards to the spool. Just wondered how this compared to connecting threads.

Yes, they are 1200 yards a spool. Had to go look on one of my unopened spool to double check. I have several of their sets. Haven't had any problems with it while machine piecing and quilting. Just can't use it to hand piece, it shreds.

Recently bought some fabric from them and it is gorgeous! I haven't played with it yet.

I have used it the thread but found out it made alot of lint in the bobbin area to where you had to clean the machine after every bobbin ran out, I now use Aurifil somebody told me about no lint problem there at all.

I have it and use it and like it for the price, for sure. I also like all the color choices. It DOES produce a lot of lint/fuzz and on my old machine it broke constantly if I tried to use a universal needle with it. (Haven't tried that needle type on new machine with it.)

Gillian, is the aurifil expensive in comparison?

I have had no complaints with the fabric or the thread. I have noticed the lint but as I clean the machine often it hasn't been a problem. I have had lint with the coats and clark quilting thread also. I like the color choices and the price. Just placed an order and like the service and the free shipping for $50 dollar orders. The fabric was good quality, especially for the price. Jayne

Laura--We just had a discussion on universal needles on one of my sewing machine forums and the general consensus was that universal needles aren't usually a good choice for anything except the most basic sewing. For cottons, use a regular needle, for knits use a ballpoint. In general, the less you pay for thread, the more linty it is. That said, I use Coat's and Clark for 90% of my quilting. I clean the bobbin area thoroughly every three bobbins. Connecting Threads is a good buy and I like the color choices, too. I've use Guttermans, YLI, Aurifil, Sulky, etc... and, yes, the more expensive threads are slightly less linty, but I still have to clean the bobbin area every three bobbins because a certain amount of lint is carried there from the fabric and batting. I tend to make thread choices based on color most of the time. If I could afford it and if they'd come out with bigger spools, I'd probably use Sulky most of the time--it's wonderful.
