    That's Great!!!!

Hope it's a good time! Take pictures!

    Hey Readyami,

    Did you dig yesterday??

The plumbers are there today at my place. I had to meet them, test the sprinklers and check the pipe diameter then go. Stupid work and there mandatory meetings.

Do you have a big hole? Let's see!

I am digging as we speak. My backyard is a disaster area! We have a sloping yard, so they've had to dig here and fill there, etc., etc. It is going to look good when it's done, but DH and I have a lot of work to do with retaining walls (small, we can do ourselves), and landscaping. I will post pics later. My pool should be arriving in the next 2 hours! I will start a thread with my pics. Thank goodness we are working from home right now so we are here anyway.

I picked out my tile, but now I'm rethinking it.!!! I like the blue pool look, old-fashioned. I'm getting Aqua-blue pebblesheen. My pool will be shaded a lot (neighbor's trees and then mine):( So the water will be the darker color in this picture:

    {{!gwi}}

I'm just having concrete salt finish coping. But along the back edge will be rocks.

This is the tile I picked. It looked great when we took it in the sunlight and I though it would reflect the aqua blue pebble sheen upward.
    {{!gwi}}
Also we have really hard water so I want to keep it light to not show the calcium line so easily.

But now I think I should have chosen this one:
    {{!gwi}}
Or maybe a grey one? OMG I can't decide anything!!

If you like the blue look, and that is water the water will look like, against the gray I think the first one looks good. I LIKE the second one better, but that's just because I like the overall look of it better than the first one -- the different tones and such. But, the sample is bigger, so maybe there are just as many tones on the first one. But, having said that, the first one would probably look better with your water color.

This week, nothing much is going on. They did backfill, laysome rocks down and mark where the concrete goes, but only a few sticks of re-bar are around the pool and now they have to move the equipment pad!

I sure hope there are no long term consequences to moving the plumbing and electric a good 3 inches.

Here's the tile pics and now there's a styrofoam form all around it.

Have you had any progress? You dropped off the board! We have STILL not had pool school, and I had to get on here to find a way to keep the pool from overflowing with all the rain we have been getting. I am ready for this project to be DONE. They still need to bury the waste pipe and finish some final dirt work that the rain has shown was NOT finished properly for drainage purposes. My husband did a polar bear plunge on Thanksgiving. That was fun. (for us LOL)

I've been reading the board. it seems only a few of us crazies get a pool done in winter!

Your Dh sounds like a hoot! What a cold idea to have!

We have concrete and the equipment seems in place. I got a new fence since the digger did a complete demolish on my old one. So we are ready for inspection on tues.

Slowly but surely, coming along....I like the cantilever concrete. The look is just so clean. I like your rocks, too! We are having pool school today. That should be fun, since it was 28 this morning... brrrr
What is the gap in your concrete over there in pic one...is that an eventual fountain or wall?

The gap is for planters. They even put in drainage big enough to run a dripline through.

Pebblesheen is on Thursday and Friday! Then we fill after they leave friday. I wish the stupid trees would stop dropping bucketfulls of leaves all around and in the pool. I guess one of the challenges with a winter build.

Then I'll be ready for pool school. The PB offers a months free pool service, so I'll also get to follow that guy around a take notes as well.

Are you excited, take lots of notes. Are you going to take care of the pool yourself? I;m planning on it, but am nervous I'll mess it up!

I LOVE your tile. I can't wait to see it with water. Good luck with everything. You won't be able to wait to swim. LOL

The planters will be pretty. We are getting sod today, so that will help A LOT with erosion and the landscaping! I hope to put some river rock by the equipment area since it doesn't have great drainage for grass..plus I want to break up the area.
Oh, yeah, I took pages of notes. The good thing is, he scheduled our daily items for us on the easy touch so we don't have to do that ourselves right off the bat. I am planning on taking care of it myself, for sure. I am used to the hot tub, we've had that for 5 years and use it several times a week. The leaves are a big concern for us as well, but we love the trees and will deal with it. I'd rather have trees than a pool with no leaves!
Pebblesheen this week! Wow! SO exciting! I can't wait to see it! You KNOW you have to have someone jump in!!!

    Thank you Stonesmama!

    Readyami-
The sod will be beautifull. We had such a muddy mess. Now the leaves have covered it up for now. We have a contractor installing some drainage on that side and putting in a concrete pad at the end of the side yard so we can store our trash cans and shed there. The neighbors are still watering their yard 4 times a day, with sprinkler heads right next to our property line.

We have a nice stream of water pooling all over. I will be glad when drainage is done. Maybe it'll be me who jumps in!

Okay, where are those pictures? You should have water...!!!

Yes I have water, equipment is up and running. But haven't bothered with pictures as it's been 40 degrees and very very cloudy foggy all week and today as well.

I can't remember what the sun actually looks like. The water looks sort of greenish from a distance in the cloudy foggy weather, so I'm waiting for the sun.

Also the water is a little cloudy when I'm around since I'm instructed to brush the pebble finish to smooth out the stones once a day for two weeks.

How was pool school? I hope that it's not too complicated. The pool guy showed up dumped a gallon jug of something in that caused a whiteish residue, started the equipment and autofill. Then left. He'll be back 3 times this week and next then it's pool school for me.

    Finally got pictures with water.

    18 X 32 free-form
    Aqua Blue pebble sheen

Downside, I'm pretty sure the cartridge filter is leaking, maybe the booster pump too.

The water is a pretty color! I love it! I know you are glad to have it behind you! We have had snow this week (in MISSISSIPPI) and the kids were out of school 2 days. Our heater is still not hooked up, but we are having 70 degree days this week, so hopefully this week.
We had a couple of pump problems, too, but they replaced everything the next day, so we are happy.
Pool school was NOT hard. The easy touch is scheduled to do all the daily stuff with the equipment, we'll do the chemical tests (I have been doing that with the hot tub for 5 years so I know the basics). The rain and snow have messed with everything..we've actually had to drain out overfill twice, so the salt level is low. The snow is finally gone, but rain is moving in Tuesday. I need to get pics with the grass in, but I haven't done it yet.
I must say again I really, really like the cantilever edge on the concrete with gunite.
