Hi, forgive me if you have seen this before, I have posted in another forum. We are inder contract to buy this house and should be closing mid-December. The house is a split level ranch with a walkout finished basement. It has everything we need as far as the layout and location but to be honest, is ugly....

We are looking for ideas on how to change the look of the house from just painting the wood siding and replacing windows and trim, to residing with vinyl or something else. Obviously its dated, and looks like an apartment building due to the windows and trim. I was thinking about replacing the slider windows with taller double hung on the upper floor (the right of the front door) and maybe a bow/bay window to replace the sliders on the left of the front door (the kitchen).

We both do not like the dark color wood look and want something on the lighter side. My biggest problem is with the covered entry... I think its awful, but not sure how else it can be done. We do like a covered entry but the setup here is ugly...
