Installing a new heat pump

Hi,

I've a 2 year old pool heat pump that has been nothing but trouble since the day it was installed and it's just packed up again. Whilst it is under warranty, I've found all the companies involved to be just hateful, so I'm almost certainly going to end up ripping the current heat pump out and putting in a new one (from a different manufacturer!!).

I'm not a plumber or electrician, but to be honest there really doesn't seem to be much to installing a new heat pump so long as I can utitize the existing pipe work and cabling. It looks like I just need to get it hooked up to the existing electrical supply (I'll find an electrician for this), but all that's left seems to be connected the existing pipes up to the new heat pump.

I've found a heat pump that I believe is suitable for a good price, but it uses 1.5" compression fittings, whereas all my existing pipe work is 2" in diameter.

So, my question is, can I run some kind of connection from my 2" pipework to the heat pumps 1.5" fittings? I'm sure it is physically possible to do, so my real concern here is the probably change in pressure when the water is forced down the narrower gauge into the heat pump and any detrimental effects it may have on the heat pump.

Many thanks,

Dave
