A friend of mine got a Rubbermaid cabinet -probably six feet tall and two feet wide. It has two doors that open up to reveal about four or five shelves. She keeps beach towels in there, and for small things like goggles, sunscreen, etc., she uses small plastic rectangular baskets on the shelves. I always think it looks and works great.

I have one similar to bestyears (from Lowes's). I keep grandaughters outdoor toys (sidewalk chalk, plastic horse shoe game, ball and glove), plant foods, watering can, wasp spray, cat food, etc in it. Works for me.

We had a deck box similar to the one shown partway down the page in beatyears' link. It has since become storage for our recycling bins, but it works well for a lot of purposes! We don't have quite as many outdoor toys as we used to, but now we keep them in a plastic laundry basket on our side porch.

Any other ideas that aren't plastic? Or does outdoor equal plastic? This is a covered patio, and will have zero exposure to the elements. I certainly don't want to see our junk (no open shelving), but I'm wondering what that leaves?

Oh, I didn't realize it was a covered patio -in that case I'd get an armoire from Craigslist -shouldn't cost you more than $100. Paint it with a fabulous color EXTERIOR paint, and a pretty, complimentary color inside, and voila! You can add some hooks to the insides of the doors to hang things on too.

Ok, now I have to know what is considered complimentary? Same color (or same color just lighter/darker) or just any color that sort of matches your exterior paint color?

Complementary colors are those that are directly across from each other on the color wheel as shown at the link below. Ofcourse you can use various of any of the colors. Like instead of blue and orange it could be baby blue and peach.
